The scary thing is, look how much our current demagogue and his cronies and handlers learned about taking control of American government. Punch them in the mouth and all their plans go out the window. We will likely weather this storm and come through it ok in the end as the public outcry slowly turns into action to counter this coup attempt. So to take this one step further, how much more is that faction learning from their losses and how much stronger plans will the next demagogue have in attempting to complete what I believe Trump will inevitable fail at? That's the really frightening thing in all this, that yes, the current coup attempt is unsettling and highly disappointing, but the lessons learned by the team that will support the next demagogue will make the next coup attempt truly terrifying. I'm sure they will lean much more heavily into censorship and physical violence against dissenters and will engage the military to put down opposition much earlier. The real test as to whether we learn anything from all this as a society will be what safeguards we put in place to head off the next attempt. Because you better believe this has greatly emboldened any and all parties who have the same ambitions and the next attempt will be planned out even better and very likely lean more heavily into violence to put down dissent. The question isn't whether we can weather this storm, but can we be protective and prescient enough to put the right controls in place to stop the next one before it starts, because your better believe it will happen again.

They convinced half the nation that a free and fair election was stolen. They convinced half the nation that people were eating pets. Convincing them that a rally was fake is as easy as it gets. Just say it, hell just imply it, and it's done. A single tweet and it's done. Half the country will believe it. It's the nature of the cult. They have to believe everything said to them or they have to start questioning their religious beliefs and that's the last thing anyone will ever do.

You have it exactly backwards. Believe what your eyes are seeing. A rally in reliably democrat Colorado doesn't matter at all. Colorado was voting democrat before and will vote democrat going forward so it is a gain of zero for the democrats.

What does matter is left-voting California, Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, New York, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania all losing seats (electoral votes) to conservative-voting Texas, Florida, and North Carolina. The swing in 2030 will be such that a Democrat could win all three of blue wall states Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, AND STILL LOSE THE ELECTION.
