What's new

Baton Rouge Police Killing a 37-year-old black man at point blank range

Anybody who saw the video saw murder. You see something else. Maybe it's time to get of mushrooms?

Lucky for these protectors of justice there is more video to prove the fanatics wrong.

I will not provide the new video. It is grafic.

Officers respond to a call of a man BRANDISHING a fire arm...

"He's got a gun"

Arm securing Officer pulls out his firearm and warns suspect.

"I swear to God if you move..."

Suspect continues struggle for his weapon.

Shots ensue.

Sorry cop haters, race baiters, and gun haters. This case is closed.

Questions that are not easy to answer....
1. Why do the asians do not encounter the violent incidents with law enforcement as much as blacks? When was the last police brutality incident in a Chinatown?
2. If everybody on the police would be a black - would the police brutality against blacks end?
3. Is the police brutality against blacks in USA higher compared to other countries either in Asia or Africa? Have not heard any cases that some black person has been killed in Japan or Hong Kong. As much as i have heard, the above average countries in Africa like Zambia, Gambia, Uganda, Senegal, Kenya, Mozambique - police violence is uncommon. Or maybe not reported.
4. Race IMHO does not matter - Russia and countries in South America are great examples through the history that police and military can be ruthless also to the white persons.

Yeah those are tough questions to answer...

Not trying to answer them, just my thoughts on this general issue since nobody has commented on your questions. I think Asians have a different history in the US than blacks do in terms of coming to the US.

I know in NZ we have a slightly different dynamics in that we have the Maori who are indigenous people here, who sometimes feel like the Europeans have come in and taken everything away from them.. many of them are poor and are at the lower socio-economic level ... The Maori feel like they should be treated better as they've been mistreated in the past, many are living on the benefit, etc.

On the other hand, most Asians who have come to NZ, had to pass a rigorous test of Education, Asset, job offer, etc, to be allowed a Permanent Resident status... many were already well off in their countries (that's why they pass the test), hence they are here trying to make a real go, working hard, with kids studying hard and all pretty much well behaved.

I don't think so.

In my experience in public education, both the quality and quantity of candidates has dropped like a rock in just 10 years.

In Utah, teachers are actually paid proportionally less than in 2008. We spend less of a percentage of the state budget on public education than in the early 2000s when we were already spending at pathetic levels. In 2010, senator Dan Liljenquist gutted public pensions in this state hurting policemen and teachers the most. Prior to this, one could justify the terrible salary with the promise of a good pension at the end. Not anymore.

Utah currently has a major teacher shortage. Major. People are leaving the profession nor are many going into it anymore. Davis School District could literally hire every single education grad from every single university in Utah and still not cover all of their openings. That's just Davis school district.

Ive seen first hand the destruction of public education system here in Utah. One of my best friends is also a cop in Orem. He describes a similar situation.

Both these sectors have been gutted either through ridiculous legislation or tax cuts for business (at the expense of services like law enforcement and education). As a result, cops and teachers are overburdened, under compensated, and the people going into these fields or being retained are not quality candidates.
You said that one marginal NBA player is going to make more in a year than all of the teachers and police officers combined. That is laughably untrue.

I don't disagree with your other points about teachers and cops, but you diminish your own credibility by starting out with such an enormous overstatement.

Who else here is fully in favour of cost affective private transfer of firearms through local Police Departments?

To the gun nuts this would also protect you from lawsuit or criminal penalties so

A bold comment to make it more of a racial issue rather than focus on the tragedy itself. Way to go.

What the hell???

THIS IS A RACE ISSUE!!!

This is all about race!!!

My hell. We can't properly work to fix this problem until we sit down and admit, THIS IS ALL ABOUT RACE AND ECONOMICS.

Cmon guys, let's wake up and smell the coffee. These incidents aren't isolated. They're not acts of God like a natural disaster or some freak earthquake. These incidents are many of the long list of white v black racial tensions that remain unresolved because we refuse to admit that we have a problem.

Look at all of the stats.

From incarceration rates, schools, lack of economic opportunity, to police shootings.

Race and economics.

So do you think that the guy whose picture was plastered on the news last night as a possible suspect will be open-carrying in the future? He learned the hard way that carrying a gun around makes people assume you are involved. That must have been quite a shock when he realized he was being blamed for something he had not done.

I work in law enforcement, and today is a tragic day for everyone here. And they all keep doing their jobs.
