Bruno Caboclo... the next Giannis?

If the Raps want to be in the playoffs again next year, I doubt we'll see much Caboclo outside the D-League, Summer League and garbage minutes.

Yup for sure, The Raptors are a playoff team so this is almost a luxury pick, but i really dont mind the risk/reward, Caboclo will be the youngest player in the NBA.

It looks like PHX would have taken him 22nd if the raptors passed, so i dont think we had a shot at him.

If Summer League, D-League, Garbage time and team practices are the best way for him to develop individually, it's a good risk/reward pick at 20.
I personally felt Capela dropped too low as a risk/reward pick.

This dude is 2 years away from being 2 years away. Lololololol

Funniest pick and after pick conversation in the whole draft.

He is alot like durant with his 4.9 pts per game average.

And 4.9 in the Brazilian league nonetheless. I can't get too excited about picks based on body frames that seem like they should be able to play basketball unless there is production there too.

The biggest fool from the Caboclo pick was Fran Fraschilla. hands down. It was suspect to hear Jalen Rose say he looks like a good player after seeing i think 2 highlights, with the rest of us. But yeah you cant kill Jalen or Bill for what was said about Bruno, He was way off the radar of most 'experts'

what did Fran say exactly say though? i think it was

"hes 2 years from being 2 years away, and then we'll see" something to that extent. Thats just flat out wrong, Bruno will play for the Raptors next year.

Looking back i think theres reason to believe this trade would have been turned down at 19, and certainly at 20 so i cant kill it.

Knowing what I do now, I would've endorsed trading 23 and 35 for Caboclo. This dude looks like the giant SF many of us were looking for.

I think Fran at one point last season said the Wiggins shouldn't come out. He tends to overvalue skills and devalue athleticism.

Lol at people bitching about Simmons being an "armchair gm". That is what he is paid to do. He doesn't act like he is a scout, he literally says "I watched this guy on youtube and I like him for no apparent reason" or stuff like that. He doesn't go in depth with his analysis, he just gives you his opinion. A lot of people enjoy hearing it, I know I do. Dude is funny. Sometimes being funny makes you comes off as a jerk/dick/***.

Him and Rose then went on to make snide comments about the pick they agreed they didn't know much about. It's douchey IMO. You can you are surprised they took that guy there because you didn't really follow his play coming up to the draft at all. They did that and it's fine. When Rose makes the point that he would take the latest 2nd rounder over this guy 150% of the time it just looks bad IMO. I get that's what he and Simmons do. I just think it is really dumb. Both will laugh at this pick if this kid busts for years down the road. If the kid succeeds then they probably won't ever mention their initial stance. I hate that about most analysts TBH.

Simmons admits being wrong about certain guys in his articles on grantland fairly often.

7'7" Wingspan... If hes a SF thats the biggest ive ever heard. If hes 6'8 thats quite a difference.

Giannis' wingspan is (was) 7'3", Durants 7'4".. I bet Toronto thinks he can play PF.
