What's new

Burke shooting the most and poorly, whats changed

last 5 trey's games (3 preseason 2 regular season)

shot attempts
15
14
16
15
16

15.2 attempts so far. last year 12.8

we want trey to take more shots than his rookie season. 15 attempts are perfect for him. he isn't PG PG. trey is most effective when he is aggressive offensively.
Leading the team in shots is not ideal imo.

Edit: unless he is making them with a good shooting percentage

I want to know who we is.........The kid is under 6' tall ,shot poorly last year and has started out shooting poorly again and this is against Patrick Beverly and Jameer Nelson...bottom tier PG's in the NBA.
I highly doubt fanz here want Burke shooting 5 more shots a game than his team mates.
I think fanz want to see passes that don't bounce off of Gobert's knees, see some passes that get Kanter some easy baskets .These are passes a PG does to his big men to get an inside game.Passes a Rubio can do ,a Rondo can do ,a CPaul can do ,a DWill can do....I can go on....

Trey is almost perfect running the PnR. Any passes he botches up I would blame it on the big, instinctively. He is now attacking the rim and has already upped his FTA by 1. I think that will go up a little bit as the season goes on which should help him gain confidence and have a more balanced game. He also improved his 2pt %FG by %5. Let him find his 3pt shooting and we have ourselves a very servicable starting PG.

Next step for Trey should be drive and kick/dime game, search drives where he breaks defenses(he has good enough of a handle to keep the dribble alive) and add some nasty on defense.

Patrick Beverly is quite possibly the best defensive PG(if not best, in top 3 for sure) in the league...

Why? I would rather see more assists.

This is a terrible assessment tool. Can Trey pass it and shoot it at the same time? If you want to say he isn't passing the ball enough that's one thing. Saying he should have more assist is kind of a ignorant complaint.

There is no John Stockton in QS' s offense - it's fairly obvious the goal is to have 3 guys with 4 assists not one guy with 12 assists. The Jazz got great looks last night - who facilitates those looks are of minor importance.

This may be true (probably is) but I wonder if snyder wants his players to make the great looks they get

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he does. I'm fairly confident if Burke continues to get open looks they'll start falling. When he gets the ball in rhythm he has the best shooting mechanics on the team. I'm really not concerned about him.

Last seasons bad shooting combined with this year has me concerned.

I don't like his shot either. Too flat.
I think hood has the best shooting mechanics in the team (maybe in the whole league)

I remember Trey ending last season this way. He was having terrible shooting games, and still shooting a lot, until the last game of the season against the TWolves in which he just exploded.

his shooting is not good, but his d is even worse

whoever watched the phx game probably noticed that he couldn't stay in front of bledsoe all night

Burke is simply not that good imo. I think he has forced things too often and taken bad shots.

I also think that Snyder is partly to blame. Burks and Hayward should be getting more pick n rolls ran for them (and a few more iso's in burks case) and burke should have less
I like your suggestion to have H and Burks run more PNR. That makes a lot of sense to me.

Once Synder becomes confident in his assessment that Burke cannot attack the defense to his liking, you'll definitely see adjustments in the offense.

I wonder how happy ATL is with Jeff Teague..... I know there were rumblings..... I'm assuming those have been ironed out..... but, if not....... pls get

Ironic that you say this, cuz so far this season:

From 3:

Rodney Hood is 1-for-10
Bure is 2-for-15.

Where is the concern for Hood?

As for mechanics, I just think hood has better form and mechanics on his shot.

As for hoods struggles, I will criticize him plenty if he is still shooting poorly at the end of the year. (Maybe not as much criticism as trey though since he was picked at 21 vs trey at 9..... probably not fair but it is what it is)

Also one is a starter playing 30+ minutes per game..... the other is the 4th best bench player and not playing much.

Maybe that's not fair to trey either but I care less when a bench player who doesn't play as much struggles than a starter logging big minutes

Hood has had some really good open looks too.

like wide the **** open and he bricked them all.

But we'll see..
