What's new

Buy, hold, or sell on Mo, Marvin, and Foye.

I know you're right. I thought for sure they were going to trade Josh Howard last year at the deadline, but yeah, didn't happen. Foye's gonna be with us for a year and play well but limit Burks minutes. Which, is fine whatever but still kinda bugs. He'll be ok. Dunno why the Jazz draft players only to park them behind less talented vets. Sigh. I thought things woulda changed when Sloan retired. wah.

I think it has the potential to work out well, especially if the new guys are used decently and not forced. There will be some stretches through the season that we're going to look really good, really good, and probably put together a pretty nice win streak. There will also be some stretches that are going to be absolutely horrible. I think it's pretty possible we could pull an upset and get out of the first round. However, I think sometimes we fail to acknowledge that often less is more. In the end, we're trying to slap a band-aid on something to possibly move up 1-2 spots in the standings only to let some of those guys walk, leaving our younger guys with limited experience and thus justifying continuing the cycle next year where we seek out 'proven' players to 'boost' our roster and 'take the young guys under their wings'. It will be embarrassing when the guys with experience we seek out came into the league at the same time as our young guys.

Everyone is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay on board the Marvin train. This and his outlier 38% (gut feeling) from three last year convinces me that he is going to be this year's whipping boy. Dude is gonna be lambasted here. Just watch. And we'll pissed that Burks isn't playing more because Foye's getting 18-20 minutes a game a lot of the time.

I lol'd since I have a 1st grader and they play that game a lot.

We're re-signing Mo; KOC admitted as much in the Press Conference. I think Marvin has the chance to be a real surprise for us. His scoring average may not increase much, because he'll still be the 3rd or 4th option, but his range will keep defenses honest and we'll notice an improvement on the defensive end.

Foye..who knows? Doesn't matter much on a 1-yr deal. Kind of the situation we had last season w/ Howard and Tinsley. He provides some depth and injury insurance. And probably was signed with the understanding that playing time could not be guaranteed.

Mo Williams: Buy (his opportunities have to be better here than they were behind Chris Paul)
Marvin Williams: Hold (he is what he is)
Foye: Sell (never a fan)

Mo - buy (hasn't had a green light like this since he was in Milwaukee pre-Jennings)

Marv - buy (but not by much, primarily because he won't be surrounded by 3 other ball-dominant players--Johnson, Horford, Smoove)

Foye - hold (has a clear role, but he's hit his ceiling as a scoring combo and may be limited in half-court sets)

Mo: Just by virtue of playing the starting PG Mo will improve his PER. Whether he's an effective PG is another question.'
Marvin: Don't think he falls off by a lot, but likely 14 plus.
Foye: Depends on how he's used. But he'll be around his usual numbers. PG duty could spike it a bit, high minutes will likely lower it.
