Unless you were living under a rock all this while you will know that Sloan resigned not because he had "nothing in the tank" but because he was tired of Deron's ways. It has been repeated ad nauseum. Obviously that's not what Sloan was going to say in the press conference as he wont put the organization or the player in an embarassing position. If Sloan really thought he had nothing in the tank before this last season he would have quietly resigned in the offseason. Not sign an extension and then quit in the middle of the season.
You seem to have lost touch with reality. Go listen to numerous Greg Miller’s interviews and Deron interview. Everyone keeps saying the fight Deron had with Sloan was no worse than any other player/coach disagreement. Miller and KOC begged Sloan to stay until the end of the year, and he flat out couldn’t. He had nothing left. Just listed to Greg Miller, who clearly says it in his interviews. And if he had nothing left mid year to even finish the year when begged by ownership, he was not exactly running on full tank for a while, has he? Yet Jazz felt compelled to give him extension anyway, because they want stability. Well, Cuban didn’t, he gave coaches a fair chance to coach several years, but when results were not what he wanted, he moved on. Jazz got a coach 2 decades ago, who never won title in spite of having 2 ATGs for nearly 2 decades, and instead of looking for a change, they just let the guy run out of gas and then promote his 2nd assistant. Some stability is all good, but we are talking about major stagnation here. And Dallas and Cuban winning the title now after actually trying out different coaches and having a selection process, makes it fairly obvious, doesn’t it?
