Any chance we could sign him next year if we dont take on any big contracts? Dwill could talk him into coming to Utah to challenge Miami's Olympic trio, Utah then adds Tomic, giving them a skilled big man. Anyone like this? I know almost all Jazzfanz hate Mello, but he is a great player, and one of the few stars that doesn't need to dominate the ball.

Not as far-fetched as many will claim. I don't see Melo having any grudges against Utah at all. I'm not a huge fan of his maturity level, but I believe he's better in that regard than he was a couple of years ago.

I don't think he leaves Denver, though, and signs a max contract extension before training camp.

Well, the main point of this thread is to see if its actually possible. Would we have the caproom to offer max money?

"Melo's people in Utah" would loooovveee it. I just do not see him coming to Utah after leaving our division and conference rival. AS far as I know he is from NYK and since Walsh failed to sign one of LeBrick, Wade and Bosh, he will go hard to bring Melo to Knicks. It's safe to say that Utah is the last place among NBA cities in Crymello's list.

Depends what the max would be under the new CBA. As it sits, if it were the same CBA, and the salary cap is 60 million, the Jazz could offer around 16.3 Million, which is under the max, 20 million if they decline C.J.'s option, which I believe is more than the max, 18.5 million if they renounce Koufos before the start of THIS season, which is near max, I think, and 22 million, way over the max, if the Jazz decline both options.

After all, he did do a commercial for all the Mellow fans of Utah.

If he doesn't sign that extension with Denver, he will use an insane amount of money. There's no way he hits free agency.

I don't know how many of you guys have thought of this, but he could be our PF. I mean, that is what he plays internationally and he definately has the size. Deron to Melo would be pretty much unstoppable, only if he'd come here.

Why would players pick NJ over Utah? Really I want to know this.

Because they are going to Brooklyn in the near future which will be a big market and they really do have a passionate owner apparently and he wants a championship within 5 years. The same could be said, why would anyone want to pick Dallas over Utah?

This, and it should be noted that Carmello grew up in Brooklyn for the first eight years (I think?) if his life. NJ will definitely be a player.

Carmelo is a big fan of jerry sloan and how the jazz plays as a team..He could become a great defender if he wanted too..Playing with someone like dwill he wouldnt have to carry the team every night therefor he could do better on defense..He showed me after the nugs jazz series that he is growing up some..He had nopthing but compliments for dwill, sloan, and the jazz..He even said the jazz fans are some of the most passionate in the nba...Salt lake might be a little small for him cuz when he got to denver at first he did not like it but denver has grown on him so maybe he could handle it..Great player just needs better coaching
