Cody Williams Hype and Appreciation Thread

Sure Cody has shown some basic signs of life as of late, but this lovefest is just ridiculous. He still wouldn't play a single minute for any team trying to win and his shot is trash.

That applies to 95% of young players during the first months of their second NBA season. You need to work harder to maintain your reputation of the preeminent Cody hater.

Had he been your son would you say the same thing or give him support?

Would’ve done both not gonna sugarcoat him would’ve told him his shot is trash. He needs to shoot up 1000 jumpers a day and work on things he needs to work on. I can do that while supporting him. Don’t be dumb

You misspelled "voice of reason".

While it's been good to see Cody wake up from his $25 million coma play with something like aggression, the bar seems to be incredibly low for him. That's what I have a problem with. The worse you perform, the less people expect of you, and it warps the whole scale of evaluation.

Baby steps, yes, but these recent games have done nothing to change the overall picture of Cody (he's more or less a bust).

The Jazz will have to let some of the young guys go in the near future, and personally, I can't see any reason why Cody and Hendricks should still be here in 3-4 years.

Cody in january:

9.7/3.2/1 on 55/35/67 splits

He's showing some signs that he might play a Royce O'Neal-type role for a team, but he's got a long way to go. He's got to keep developing physically and get to the point where he's really challenging shots at the rim, owning his space on rebounds and pushing ball handlers back at the point of attack. And then yeah, he's got to keep making shots. It's probably going to take another 2 years before we really know what he can be, imo. At least he's not a total write-off.
