Collin Sexton SZN

Win/loss record? He's had a few solid games, but overall he puts up stats in garbage time and his teammates are worse around him. Last game is a prime example. If we keep him I'll keep trying to cheer for him, but I prefer him gone if we can get any resource for him.

Haha, that isn't on the jazz development team at all. It is all about Sexton being forced into heavy minutes because of injuries and it has allowed him to play a more patient game where he can pick his spots better. The reality is that Sexton should have been starting from game 1 but Hardy was way too stubborn to give him a shot.
??

Hardy wanted to roll with Sexton/THT, but they looked so bad in the preseason games that many are still suffering from PTSD caused by seeing it.

Just before that I did post he was playing better and hopefully he keeps it up. We'll see, he's been a lot more consistent lately. Still ain't a huge fan of what he brings. He isn't a PG and he isn't big enough to be a SG especially on defense. He's kind of a specialist scorer 6th man role. He is young so maybe he can still become a PG.

Either way I'm glad he's playing better and helping us win since that's the best for the team short term and long term.

He’s a starter. Doesn’t play nearly as well as 6th man. This is who he is it isn’t some anomaly. He averaged 24.3 PPG on great efficiency a few years back.

Then I hope he plays really well and becomes a starter at PG that can win and make everyone better for us. Or more likely/preferred to me he improves his value and is a good trading chip.

But that is part of the problem I don't see him being a starter, but he doesn't want to come off the bench. But he is starting to change my mind. Although when I posted that he just had a really bad game in the middle of good ones.

I think he is a SG personally and plays better next to someone who is bigger at PG.

You can get away with Sexton being the smallest guy on the court. You can’t pair him with someone undersized though. Lonzo, Dejounte, Black, Giddey, etc would be good fits next to him.

Lonzo?? He’s done I think. Doesn’t he have the same issue that rams rb had can’t think of his name at the moment.
I’m calling it now. We’re going to be involved in some kind of three team deal that sends out Collins and takes back Lonzo. The floor of this deal — Lonzo never playing again — shaves $5M in salary this year, $6M in salary next year, and $26.6M in salary in ‘25-‘26. Lonzo returning to the court is just gravy. Plus we’ll at least get to look forward to one of the radio guys reaching out to LaVar this season.

I don’t think it matters a ton for where we are currently. In the playoffs where teams hunt small guys it may matter more. Long term he’s a tough fit unless he’s the third guard. I think he can thrive off the bench if he’s playing with a pg just like he is now.

Let’s go get him (for Collins). Either he comes back and is useful — a huge, and surprising outcome—or he sucks and its addition by subtraction.

It feels like Chicago has invested so much in him already with all of the medical expenses and everything and since they aren't really a competitive team this year, that I don't see them moving on from him unless they know he's not coming back next year.

In other words, if Chicago trades Ball its because they know more than anyone else and he's not coming back.
