What's new

Crazy beers you've tried?

Have you been able to get Dogfish Head beers in Utah? If they stocked them at the LQ I would have tried many more. As it is my sister usually brings a few interesting beers from San Diego when she visits. That's where I got the 90min IPA.

I've recently tried Little Sumpin' Sumpin' from Lagunitas and I think it's my favorite commercial beer. The Lagunitas IPA is also excellent. The LQ near me doesn't stock the Little Sumpin' Sumpin' so the IPA is a nice fill-in, but not as good imho.

Does anyone know of any legal (or not, as long as the shipper will ship it) ways to order beers and have them sent to Utah? I'd be happy to pay the crazy taxes as long as I could get some of the really great and interesting beers out there that we simply can't get in Utah.

You looked into joining a beer trade club or something like that?

You send out beers from your neck of the woods and other people send you beers from their place.

I haven't. I will look into that, though. I'd just have my sister send me beers but she's too straight laced to do it if it isn't legal.

Random pictures of some of the beers I've mentioned.

@GF - No, I haven't found Dogfish Head in Utah. When I go to KY, I always ship back to my Utah self, a few cases of that and Bell's Two-Hearted Ale.

I hear about Bell's Two-Hearted constantly on the homebrew boards. There are apparently some really good clone recipes out there.

Interesting. Bell's has some nice brews.

I used to live in Indiana, and enjoyed Bell's all the time. I like their seasonal (fall) Oberon Ale, and their amber ale.

I've also tried a few funny named beers like Monty Python and the Holy Ail as well as Arrogant *******. Both were pretty good.

Where'd you live in IN?

Looks like I have most of what I need to make the clone with a minor substitution of the hop used. I was planning an IPA 3 brews out so I think I'll modify it to the Two-Hearted clone. Probably December before I'll be drinking it.

Fixed ftw.

Nice weather.

I kid. I lived on the extreme opposite end on the Ohio River.

Yeah, Valpo is a horrible place. I don't recommend it. Although I did get to play a lot of b-ball there, and I got to know Bryce Drew a little...
