If you are expecting more out of Kanter, you are going to be disapointed. The guy hasn't really played much real ball in 2 years, and he's only 19.

we can see the potential, but it takes time. But if you think he could have won the game for us tonight....

but then there are people here who think he should be getting Jefferson's minutes.

I would have gone with Miles, but I understand putting Bell in. Burks had lost Beabouis twice in the 4th that directly led to buckets. I definitely don't trust Burks to execute the offense in the final minutes of a huge game, nor to play strong D. Kind of the same with Miles, but he was playing great ball that game, so I would have gone with him.

I will never understand how anyone can justify putting Bell in. He contributes nothing. If he's paired with another wing player who can score AND he specifically matches up best against a player, I get it.

Bell does not play enough defense to justify the negative impact he has on the offense. Ever. I understand Bell as an occasional spot up defender which is what he should be. But the idea that we NEED Bell to play 25 minutes a night is lunacy.

C'mon, Cyrone; you're better than that. Kanter was showing inexperience; the effort was there, and the talent is there. He hit two free throws. He pulled down almost as many RBs in 13 minutes as AJ did in more than twice as much time. He was slightly anxious on that goaltend, and he needs more burn to figure out how to score around the rim. Kanter's performance was promising, if anything.

That's exactly why the "conventional wisdom" (advanced by Phil Johnson and imitated by Ty tonight) of putting the starters back in (no matter how well or poorly they have done) is flawed if the starters aren't the best combination on a given night.

If Rick Carlise subbed like IGS wanted, we would have won the game. Carlise would have benched Terry for being 1 of 12 before the last 2 minutes of the game. Then he wouldn't have hit that huge 3.

Agree 100%. In the first game of the season Kanter had a couple of gimme's at the rim that were blocked. With big guys, sometimes they get a couple of their shots blocked and they lose confidence and start quick-shooting, pump-faking automatically, or putting the ball on the floor to gather themselves rather than just finish naturally. Similar to a quarterbacks with no confidence in their pass protection...once they drop their eye level and start focusing on the passrush - as a defense you know it's over. Kanter just needs to a little more natural feel and confidence around the basket, know when to go up strong with 2 hands and when to get it up quickly with one.

Also I think he has some good low-post moves, but his footwork is pretty choppy as well. There's alot to like about his offensive game, but right now it's just in bits and pieces and he's yet to smooth it all together.

Kanter's rim problems will easily get fixed. What's important is that he's getting the offensive rebound. That's incredibly good for where he's at and with what he has.
I imagine they'll coach him to either pass the ball out before taking it down to his knees or going up stronger. He should never ever go low down there.

Why did we bring back Bell, Hayward, and Bell this game? They all stunk. Hayward was sort of OK so I can let that pass. But none of them had games that merited being on the floor in the 4th.

Burks had no clue what the hell he was doing defensively, for starters. And the biggest mistake of the night was bringing Heaven Harris back in the game. Watson was the reason the team didn't get blown out and Harris is the reason they got in such a hole in the first place. That's saying nothing of his ****tiness down the stretch, either.

We win this game with Josh Howard, period. No way Marion goes off for 22, and no way do we resort to double-teaming him, if Josh is guarding him.

In hindsight, the Jazz close with Watson, Hayward/Miles, Millsap, and Jefferson.

I like that the Jazz fought back. That being said, that may be the worst game I've ever seen from Harris. Yikes.

Few things.
- Jim Carrey outplayed Ty tonight. He made Ty react, not enforce the way Jazz want to play. I saw the same pattern Phil Jackson kept outplaying Sloan.
- If we had Howard, this is an easy win.
- This was a good loss. Our team (mainly youth) now is down to earth after losing at home to an experienced championship team which exposed all their weaknesses. There is nothing a couple of film sessions can't fix. Hopefully Ty will learn as well.
- There is something wrong with Harris. He was frustrated with something in the very first 2 minutes of the first quarter. Something's going on either in his personal life or in the locker room.

Got to the give credit to CJ Miles who attacked the rim, and played more like we want him too. Miles will always be up and down, but it doesn't hurt to give him credit when due.

Burks got burned a few times, but he was also playing hard on defense most of the time. He hit a few nice shots, and he looked like he belonged on the floor.
It should be noted that Sap did not play help defense on those plays, and watched Burks man drive to the hoop.

I still don't get why Ty took out Hayward when he was playing hard and with confidence and on a roll then waited until the end of the 4th to put him back in when he was cold from sitting that long. Makes no sense. You don't yank the guy who sparks the defense to get you back in the game when he is cruising. Won't do a lot for his confidence issues.

Agree. Corbin is sometimes subbing too much too quick. He also took Hayward out after just 6 minutes in the first. Bell was 0/4 at the time , Hayward was 0/1.

I think Hayward/CJ should have both been on the floor for almost the whole 4th. No Burks. Burks played very well. Hayward/CJ would have helped win this one tonite.

Also, obviously, why Ty took out Watson is beyond comprehension...really.


WIth the exception of his steal/pass to Hayward to tie the game with 2:47 left he was a huge liability.

I thought Hayward played great D, 4 steals and most importantly no more blocked layups. He did the dunk he needs to do when he drives all the time. Picture that dunk instead of passing the ball out lie he has in several games this year.

Just like he did in LA last year. Once he figures out not many block his dunk, he will be up a new level. Plus it seems to warm up his outside shooting.

I wonder whose minutes Howard will take now that CJ is playing well. I assume Burks.(Hayward --> 2)

The Terry vs. Harris argument is apples vs. oranges.

Carlisle didn't have alternatives (except an unseasoned Beaubois) who had proven to be clutch previously, and Terry (unlike Harris) has proven time and again that he can make the clutch shot. I'd probably put back in a clutch 1-for-12 vet, too, but not a non-clutch 0-for-6ish vet who had been hoisting shots all game, who had not been running the offense, and whose backup had ignited the team perhaps like nobody else the entire season.

You must be clairvoyant as well like myself. I still rather have Hayward and Burks get more minutes than Howard and remember how young Miles still is.
