Darrell Griffith...Dr. Dunkenstein himself.....

One of my favorite Jazz players ever...he was fun to watch.
Other fun facts about the "Golden Griff":
1. Only player in franchise history to win Rookie of the Year.
2. Ranks third (tied) all-time in most seasons leading the league in 3-pt FG made (2). https://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/player_fg3.html
3. Ranks second all-time in most seasons leading the league in 3-pt FG made (2). https://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/player_fg3.html
4. Set the NBA record for most 3 pointers in a single season twice in 1984 and 1985 (has been broken many times since).
5. Was a participant in the first ever NBA Slam Dunk Contest in 1984 (made it to the semifinals, beaten out by Larry Nance, Dr. J, and Dominique Wilkins).
6. Averaged 21 ppg over the first 5 seasons in his career. Maravich, Dantley, and Malone are the only other players in Jazz history to average 20+ ppg over a 5 year span.

I can't remember who it was, but some guy here was arguing with me that Griffith didn't deserve to have his jersey retired. GTFO...

I was at this game...greatest comeback ever, Jazz was down by 7 with 28 seconds left in the game. Griffith made 2 threes in the final 28 seconds to win the game.

I loved his rainbow 3s. Tried to emulate them when I was a kid.

Is that the guy you know this guy refuse to retire his jersey for 30 years? The same guy that refuse to give Stock an Nalone any money an spent for a championship?
Man, imagine if Mark Cuban owned the Jazz in the 90's. Would Stock an Malone be considered GOAT instead of Jordan?
Cuban gets us 4 rings minimum.

You're thinking of Adrian Dantley. He was a good scorer, but never fun to watch. He just backed people down with his enormous butt and made layup after layup. Griffith, on the other hand, was wonderful to watch.

I was there, too. I thought I recognized you.

So you sat in the cheap seats too? Cool. Back in the day, the worst seats in the Salt Palace was equivalent or better than the front row of the upper bowl in the Delta Center/ESA. $5 seats was affordable for a kid mowing lawns as a side job...
