Deal reached with Iran on Nuclear program

This reminds of the BCS. Trying to keep the little man down. ;)

coming soon......world peace.

I'm sure the GOP will find a way to bitch about this. Heaven forbid they give a black Democrat credit for anything.

Obviously Muslim black horse no birth certificate Obama screwing JeerooSalem over tryin to wipe 'em out once and for all and destroy America.

kind of like the big accords that Jimmy Carter negotiated between Menachim Began and Anwar Sadat back in the 70's

we can always hope things work out as negotiated...

It's a great sign but it is only an interim deal. We should all remember that ultimately the Ayatolla still runs Iran. I'm sure the Obama administration has as much skepticism for the deal as republicans do.

I can see the positive in opening the impeded dialogue channel with Iran a tittle, but somebody please explain to me how this is positive from the "Iran is evil" and can't have nukes angle. It's not that, they said carry on pretty much but don't pass these thresholds that we will have a little more transparency to tell exactly what is going on now or we'll go back to the way things were. Which is a weaker stance than they had previously.

JERUSALEM — In his first public comments on the Geneva agreement Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the deal between the six western powers and Iran a "historic mistake" that makes the world a "much more dangerous place." He added that Israel is not bound by it.
Netanyahu said sanctions offered the "best chance for a peaceful solution" and that easing them in return for "cosmetic Iranian concessions" places Israel and other countries in danger.
Israel has the "right and obligation to defend itself, by itself," Netanyahu told his Cabinet, emphasizing that Israel will not allow Iran to develop a military nuclear capability.

I'm super stoked to get anything done. Does anyone have a breakdown of what this deal actually means? I'm too lazy to google.

I think we are trying to show the Iranian people that we are not stubborn and that we are willing to lift sanctions that affect the average Iranian if they're government can act rationally. Iran had mass protests in 2009. They just had an election and although who they elected is not liberal(in the liberal democracy sense) by western standards he is more so than any leader they have elected in quite a while. If Iran does not stand up to their side of the bargain(they probably won't) and harsh sanctions resume it will be harder for their leadership to blame their problems on the great Satan.

I did have a dream the other night that a nuke went off. Damn NPR giving me nightmares.

On the bright side it was a little entertaining in the walking dead kinda way.

To be fair a little is lost in translation with the whole death to America thing. Down with America may be a more accurate translation. The Iranian people use Death to... quite often. Many Iranians that are interviewed at "death to America" rallies are clear that they separate the American Government from the American people and that they do not wish harm to Americans. After 911 there were protests in support of America in Iran but that all ended when Bush added them to the Axis of Evil. I think there was a time when all Americans were viewed as evil by the average Iranian but I think that time has passed.

If NPR gives you nightmares I have a book that would really get the hairs on the back of your neck up.

Whose prime directive? I believe that is do not interact with aliens until they reach FTL level. So this rule doesn't apply here.

It's about power and control. Those who have it v. those who want it.
