I think Hardy knows what he is doing with development minutes. It is quite clear that his preference is to put players in a position to succeed. Playing Flip 35 minutes at center is assinine and doesnt help anyone. That will never be his role.

Love's minutes are at center.

You want to play Hendricks at center?
Sure. Though I guess Hendricks could struggle at center and it could lead to losing the game......
Not the end of the world imo.

Plus, it isn't like 50 year old love is some badass defense playing center lol. I saw some stats cy posted a few games ago that indicated Love is a horrendous center.

Yeah, the plan seems to be rest Lauri vs some of the bad teams in the NBA and that's a great time for the young players to play. Against playoff teams I think they are getting enough minutes to develop in low/medium doses. The season is a marathon and they will get plenty of minutes

….did you watch the game tonight?

The 4 and 5 play really different roles on the Jazz. I would guess Hardy wants to keep Hendricks role consistent so he can learn how to succeed in the role that will be necessary to be a NBA player. He does not rim protect, rebound, or screen well enough to be a 5.

Love might be complete dog **** on defense, but he screens well and rebounds.

I'm going to guess Hardy's plan for Hendricks's development doesn't involve the center role, nor should it.

Taylor is shooting 41% from 3 for the season and has improved pretty decently offensively despite the year long injury delay. I suspect an entire healthy offseason should do wonders as it is obvious he can put in the work.

To be more specific, I don't really care about position labels. But right now Flip is only really effective when he gets to be the offensive hub big. I think it's worth giving him minutes off the ball to try and develop that skillset, but being the offensive hub is clearly his best trait.

The discussion wasn't about hardys plan though. You asked a poster if he is ok with hendricks getting a few minutes at center. He said yes.
I'm also ok with a few minutes at center for Hendricks here and there in certain lineups/matchups. I don't think it would destroy Hendricks or end the world.

I do agree that Hardys plan isn't to play hendricks minutes at center though.

Tonight was a solid tank loss. The Nets are starting to win some as are the Pels. Santi Aldama once belonged to the Jazz but in another genius move by DL, his rights were traded for the rights to Jared Butler in a purely cost cutting move. I believe Mr. Butler is playing overseas at the moment.

lol I’m not the one who said center. I said he should’ve played 35 minutes tonight. And he should’ve.
It’s positionless basketball anyway.

Plus, any minutes on the court are better than all the minutes Hardy has him ride the pine.

Despite that fact Love averages more blocks per 48 minutes
Post them defensive stats you posted a few games ago for love that showed him being horrendous though.
Also, dudes who play in the paint at the 5 probably typically block more shots than dudes who play outside the paint.
If Hendricks played the 5 he would probably get a few more blocks and if love guarded the perimeter he would probably get a few less.

Bruh you are stuck in the Warriors Dynasty era of basketball

I think he is more in the tank era of jazz basketball.
Like if the jazz were trying to win games and had kessler or someone good playing center rather than love then I bet no one would want Hendricks to play the 5.

Some of you mother****ers will bitch about anything I stg
The only thing I bitch about is watching 4 years of Hardy playing meaningless washed veterans big minutes over young guys that the Jazz need to develop & then winning too many games.

I still wake up in a panic cold sweat from having to watch Horton-Tucker start games & play big minutes over young guys.

You were upset with Love's minutes in comparison to Hendricks.

Love's minutes are heavy because we have a lot of center minutes to fill.
