As frustrating as it is that Burks and Favors have wound up where they are right now, it is more promising that the Jazz coaching and training staff can show their successes in improving (or sustaining) the play of players that shouldn't be improving. THAT is something that stays with the team and it is something to sell to players of any level of experience.

He hasn't had the chance to show how committed he is because he hasn't had an offseason where he can do work as yet.

He did forgo his opportunity to play in the 2016 Olympics which is a big deal for him.

Yeah, this is Exums first real off season. I expect to see him improve and take a jump. If next season he does not look improved after a couple months then there is a solid sign for concern. Although this depends on if he gets a consistent role/minutes. Also if they keep him off ball and standing in the corner I am not sure I can expect anything to really change.

Agree. Not sure how he can improve as a point guard if they keep using him in a "Kyle Korver" role.

I'm pretty sure he was relatively healthy for last offseason. I mean this is his first offseason where he is 100%. I'm just not sure how his mental makeup is... insists he's a pg, but struggles with ballhandling and shooting off the dribble.

I guess it's more off a "I can see multiple mental red flags" type of thing. I just wish everyone was wired like Gobert.
 
I REALLY hope the stuff about Favors ends up being true cause it felt like at times he was barely an NBA player.

Agreed. I love Quin as much as the next guy but I feel like he does inhibit our young players too often, too much, shackling them so to speak, rather than let them simply play and make mistakes and learn. Sort of a dumb statement given our player development but I just strongly feel that way about Exum. He's trying to tame this wild horse rather than letting him run free.

Ummm Rudy Gobert

If Exum wants to play he needs to become a player

He wasn't healthy last offseason. He was only just getting back into 5 on 5 when Summer League was coming around and prior to that was still rehabbing.

His original injury occurred about 6-8 weeks after his rookie season had finished so he missed that offseason also.

Who says he isn't wired like Gobert?? You gonna tell me that if Quin had put a leash on Gobert like he has Exum and played 3rd stringers in front of him that he wouldn't have a similar attitude in his exit interviews??? Gobert would tell you straight, "I'm confident in my ability, I know what I'm capable of and ready to lead this team".
