Deron's Parting Interview

If D.Will thinks it's tough to superstars to Utah, then try NJ when it's just you and Brook Lopez for another year and a half.

And no, Brooklyn isn't Manhattan.

Is Deron really sad to be leaving the Jazz, or is he sad that he's going to New Jersey? I honestly think it's the latter. He's sad that he has to play out his current contract without a prayer of making the playoffs. NJ is going to be no better than a 25-win team for the next couple of years. That's 57 losses per year, no matter how well D.Will plays.

I think he's sad that it wasn't on his terms, and he wasn't prepared to cope with it. Because there's been no sign of this tender emotion or compassion for Utah or the fans in any of the past months.

Right - he would have considered leaving Utah, but only for a better situation--the chance to play with more All Starts, a big media market, more wins, more glory. Instead he gets pushed out the door and sent to NJ, which is a worse situation. He thought he had Utah in the bag and could explore better options for the next year and a half with leverage on his side. Not the case.

Brooklyn is NYC, you know that right? The area will the new arena will be built is literally 2-3 miles from Wall Street.

Currently the Nets are about a 10 minute train ride away from Madison Square Garden. No, it's not the Knicks, but DWill is definately in NYC now.

I find most people refer to Manhattan as NYC.

Newark isn't the draw of Manhattan. The new Brooklyn arena could be if everyone embraces it. That's also in two years though, after D.Will decides whether to re-sign...

Yes, technically the 5 boroughs are thought of as NYC, but not New York, New York. Whatever. D.Will has to play out the current contract in NJ.

hes sad he's in a worse situation and we'll probably see the real 'deron' in the coming weeks as a Nets.

I'm fearful for our pick that Deron and Lopez are going to mesh insanely well. My dream all of last season was seeing them play together since I don't think either is, was, or will be a guy that can carry a team (who can?) but with the right players can be more than the sum of their parts.

Now for their sake, if they could just get rid of Avery Johnson, they might have something.

What happens if the Nets make the playoffs and the Jazz dont.

Jeezus. Imagine the implications.
