Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert will not be teammates on Sunday.
Mitchell will play for Team Durant and Gobert will play for Team LeBron in the 2021 NBA All-Star Game.
The Utah Jazz will also be represented by Quin Snyder, who is coaching Team LeBron, captained by LeBron James. The other team captain is Kevin Durant, who is injured and will not play in the All-Star Game but will stay on as captain.
In a draft of the available All-Star players, James and Durant took the two Jazz All-Stars as the final remaining options, choosing every other player on the board until only Mitchell and Gobert were left.
“There’s no slander to the Utah Jazz,” James said with a laugh. “In video games growing up we never played with Utah, even as great as Karl Malone and John Stockton was we would have never picked those guys in video games, never.”
Team LeBron includes Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Damian Lillard, Ben Simmons, Chris Paul, Jaylen Brown, Paul George and Domantas Sabonis.
Team Durant includes Kyrie Irving, Joel Embiid, Kawhi Leonard, Jayson Tatum, Bradley Beal, James Harden, Devin Booker, Zion Williamson, Zach LaVine, Julius Randle and Nikola Vucevic.
The All-Star Game, which is being held in Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, will be on TNT on 6 p.m. MST, but the coverage and action will start earlier in the day.
Coverage will begin Sunday at 3 p.m. MST., with the real action kicking off at 4:30 MST with the Skills Challenge, followed by the 3-point Contest, which Mitchell will be a part of. The Dunk Contest will serve as the halftime entertainment.
