Did the Jazz Mess up?

Every time, DWill said "That's why I only signed for three years" he was telling us he had no intention to stay.

This kind of drivel is ****ing retarded. There is no reason other than pure speculation that Deron ever wanted to leave. We lose a few games and everyone blames Deron. Of course his body language is going to be bad after losses. You people are idiots.

Seriously I don't blame him on the losses. I am just a bit skeptical about how he responded after the losses. He should understand that this team was in a transition mode with 3 new starters. In fact the 15-5 start was a bonus, or a cushion we earned for a playoff spot. When things started to go south, he was supposed to be motivating his teammate as a superstar leader, telling them things will be all right while putting extra load on his shoulders to get the team some wins. From what I heard him responding to the media, I am not sure he did that, and hence my guess he's not "motivated to win with the team".

I think a huge part of this is: Don't mess with the franchise--you will get exiled! The Jazz just made every player understand who is in charge.

Yeah NJ got the best part of the deal, barring a lot of luck, but the Jazz made the right move.

Immediately, yes. But maybe not if Deron does not exercise his option or it becomes a "Melo"drama next season with the "will he stay/will he go" distraction every night.

And getting three 1st-rounders and a quality PG is a pretty good return. Deron is still hurting and New Jersey is far from being a decent team. Williams could very well keep grumbling and have a less than stellar end to the season. Whatever he does, there isn't enough time to make NJ a playoff team this season. I'm going to cheer for them to lose, just like I did with New York. If Utah can get a #10 or better pick, I'll be happy with the outcome (Harris, Favors and a top-10 in exchange for dumping a disgruntled player and his MAX salary).

Yes the Jazz have a CHANCE at coming out on top talent-wise as well...

Deron getting along with Avery? haha! Right.....I hope other teams learn from what the Jazz have done and realize they don't have to be held hostage by these players and then get screwed in the long run. See Cleveland.

In a way the Jazz did put down a pimp slap on Deron. They traded him to a franchise with a long history of losing. They took the 2 best prospects from that team as well as draft picks. Now Deron gets to play with Avery as a coach and NO talent around him. Granted they have a new owner but who is going to want to come play with Deron? Chris Paul is toasting Melos wedding and playing in NYC. Dwight Howard is going to LA. It looks like Deron is the only legit all star in the league that still doesn't have a prom date.

If that plays out, management will be flogged, and the jazz will be the laughing stock of the nba.

The tragic thing is a measure like this apparently is the only that can keep a franchise player here (whether that's wholly true or not on the players end, it is wholly true since Greg lets his paranoia take priority in his decision-making).

The formula that Greg used was erroneous. It's closer to:

"If the Jazz keep Deron and get a franchise tag, then brilliant. If the Jazz keep Deron and don't get a franchise tag, we're ****ed.
If the Jazz trade Deron and none of the assets mean much, then we're ****ed whether there's a franchise tag or not."

than:

"MY GUT. Because I've done enough things and earned everything I have through my own merit that I can trust it. Besides running this team into the ground in less than two years. Things will get better, though, because despite that, I definitely know better than my father."

ESPN has reported the Jazz are the winners of this trade. Even though ESPN sucks, its interesting to see them put us on top.
