What's new

Do you think our FO has Ace, Tre and VJ ranked 3-5?

I still think that if there's a guy DA really loves, it's Ace. Trading up for him at #3 or drafting him at #5 makes me a little queasy. I really think we're the wrong situation for him.
100% agree Ace Bailey is the worst fit for the Utah Jazz. Even if he was great here, he'd leave or develop tension with the organization in the locker room. I take Tre over him. Tre is a bucket.

So this entire thread just did a full 180.

What I've been able to gather from Celtic-verse is that Austin was in fact heavily involved in the scouting and talent evaluation side in their FO which sort of makes sense as to why we would also hire him at this exact moment. So I think its fair to assume that will be the area where he wants to make his mark early on.

I'm watching Celtics FRPs over his tenure and apart from Baylor Scheierman who was their last year's pick taken just ahead of Collier... I dont see guards who were bad defenders in college (AFAIK). I'm worried that Tre Johnson is now off the menu, and I need to embrace that Kon is the pick if VJ and Ace are off the board.

The signature of DA's tenure (or the end of his tenure) was Brown and Tatum. Those two shape a lot of the opinion we have in this thread. The signature of BOS since DA has left is bets on White and Holiday. It's impossible to know how much of that is AA versus Stevens/Zarren, but those are the two main moves that elevated BOS after DA left.

Kind of making stuff up, but just based on that I would say there could be a higher preference for VJ in relation to Ace.

Would you also agree than Kon may be more of a AA type guy than Tre?

Not saying they would put them in the same tier, but just on a type analysis perspective. Assuming Celtics recent picks are reflective of "his type".

You can't really know, but if I had to make a choice I'd say you're probably right. I think the nerdier types would lean towards Kon where the guys who just like buckets would lean towards Tre. AA strikes me as a more analytical type and that would reflect BOS's current program, but you never know if AA was aligned with Stevens or if he was the contrasting opinion.

AA could still be a Tre guy, but less so than DA if I was going on pure speculation. Felt like DA was a big "he looks the part" kind of guy which goes hand in hand with him loving blue chips. Kon was also a highly rated recruit, but he doesn't look the part in the same way that Tre does. Tre's measurables are good even if his performance related to those attributes is not great. We can't say much about AA's preferences, but I think DA was unlikely to be a Kon guy.

I woke up today convinced that there's no chance Morey takes Tre at #3 and that there's a >50% chance that pick is moved.

We will be deciding between Tre/Fears/Kon, and it honestly sounds like a close race. With DA, I would say Tre would have the lead.....though it is notable that he did pass on Hield+Murray who are two of the most similar top 8 prospects to Tre. With AA, I think it's very much open ended and there's no clear favorite.
