Trading Lauri after landing a top prospect? That would be very puzzling.
I mean, you read what I posted? I said if they arent in that range of what people deem to be a star level prospect.

And even if they do, there will be people who argue we should double down and go for multiple rookie level stars like Boozer/Dybantsa to pair with Flagg/Bailey/Whoever they think a star rookie prospect could be.

Lauri made improvement as a passer, but I don't think he'll ever be a ball handler. I expect him to make incremental improvements, but I'm not expecting a leap.
I think they will put him more in high post situations where he can take one dribble and get to the rim. Last year they experimented a lot more with him at the 3pt line initiating offense, so it took 2-3 dribbles and it didnt work as well.

I did, but my post simply stated that if we land that guy then 2026 tank is off the board. I dont think there is a chance in a million years we trade Lauri if we land a star prospect, regardless of what some JFC posters may or may not think.

If we dont land that guy, then all bets are off and we could just as easily pivot to a second tear down or to win-now.

I hope you are right (and I agree with you no matter who we draft), but it will definitely be a talking point regardless of who we draft.

The hypothetical that would make the Lauri trade package the strongest is if the Spurs have an insane year, land a top prospect in the 2025 draft via the Hawks pick, and sign someone like Brandon Ingram in the off-season and push an insane package of their assets in for Lauri.

Yeah, I was thinking about the small leap like continuing to have more of those 4+ assists games he had quite many in the mid to late season, getting more comfortable in taking off the bounce jumpers both mid range or three pointers from side step or back step (when needed, so basically not too much, sometimes... So he can have more game winning shots if there's other options taken out by defenses), and including few ball fakes into repertoire.

I hope he is encouraged to try them in games and not stressing about if it fails at times. He has perfected his off ball game, so even minor improvements in any if those on ball actions makes him close to perfect #2 to bonafide #1 who can mostly take care on the off the dribble scoring.

If Lauri is getting more assist it's likely just his teammates being better and hitting more shots more consistently. I dont expect him to start making incredible reads. He just isnt a great passer.
