The Senate Intelligence Report (produced when Republicans ran the Senate) is quoted as discussing the chairman of Trump's campaign being in regular contact with Russian intelligence officers. If you don't think that alone is worthy of investigation, you really don't merit further attention on this issue.

There wasn't proof though. Nobody was charged nor even subpoenaed. This was found false when charges were actually brought fourth that were tax issues not colluding with Russia lol. Prove me wrong.
