Donovan wins ESPY

Yeah....maybe I’ve overstated it, but many of you act like it’s nothing when you’d be on other players *** for not doing it. I’ve just never seen a player forget to thank their teammates and current coaches in a moment like that. Sorry it was noticed, Donovan is superior to any sort of questioning. We all noticed, I’m just willing to have the unpopular opinion and say it.

In a vacuum I could see this being an issue, but he's gone on record so many times talking about how much he loves it here and loves the staff and team. If he had Gordon's non-committal aloof personality then this would be something... but its not... its nothing

I think worst case is losing in the first round. It is very possible. Utah could have easily lost to OKC last year and could this.

That might leave a conundrum on which direction to take. Home court and holding their own in the 2nd round is the minimum goal for me.
Thats why I said barely make the playoffs in my worst case scenario. I asssumed that it was implied that if we barely make the playoffs then we would lose in the first round to GS warriors. If thathappens then i think the jazz would do a quick re-tooling by letting our free agents (and favors) go and using the money to upgrade/changed the roster around the solid core we would still have under good quality contracts.

Any word on Donovan's shoes? Is it a certainty that he will get his own shoe? Anyone heard when?

(I need new shoes right now. I have bought altra shoes the last 4 times i have bought new shoes but i would like to get Spida's shoes if I can instead this time)

I've never seen someone forget to thank their teammates and coaches, and the further you want to drag out that it is absolutely nothing the further I'll drag out the fact that it's not everything but it's something......and no I don't think he gets 40 minutes a night, 20 shots a night, and free reign on most teams this quickly. You thank your coaches and team mates in that same breath. Period.

According to who? You? This isn't Rookie of the Year, or MVP. It's an entirely different award. Stop crying over spilled milk. The dude has already attended more things in Utah than probably 95% of all Jazz players their first year

I just liked a Shad post... I’m going to go re-evaluate things.

The only way that happens IMO is injuries, which makes retooling moot. This team healthy could win up to 58 games and should win at least 50. I'm talking losing a 3-6 or 4-5 matchup, on either end of home court advantage. At that point do you retool, blame it on streaky shooting (which is probably most logical, fatigue, or make nagging injury excuses?

Although I do not agree with oneye that this is a big deal, this particular sentence actually clarified something in my past for me. It involves an off-the-cuff speech I made in which I forgot to thank my parents, which was a standard thing in that particular event. My mother has never forgiven me for the oversight after 37 years. Anyway, I suddenly understand the psychology of why I didn't do it. Well, not that I didn't understand it before but hadn't put it together in my mind in this particular way. Jazzfanz is my therapy, apparently.

But this in no way means that I think Donovan consciously or subconsciously slighted the Jazz by not mentioning them. He always speaks highly of the team, and did so in the red carpet interview, as well as the tweet afterward. I doubt he changed his mind about the Jazz in between those two events.

I'm delighted that he won the well-deserved award, that he seems to be happy with our team and excited for the future, and that he is getting a lot of attention. I know we all get nervous when anything goes too well for the team, but maybe we should start getting over that.

And I'm pretty happy with the way both Rudy and Donovan dress. They wear age-appropriate suits that catch the eye (in a good way). Standing next to Odell, Donovan looked amazing!

Whoever asked about his shoes......about 4 days ago he tweeted "Coming soon......." and then deleted it pretty quickly afterwards. I felt as though it was related to the shoes. I would expect not a ton of time longer if that's what that was in regards to, but who knows.
