"Dumping Burks"

Why do people think we need to add an asset in order to move Burks? I mean, there are some bad (some really bad) contracts in the NBA but I dont agree that Burks is one of them.

IMO these are the contracts where assets are needed for the player to be moved:
Chandler Parsons MEM $23,112,004 $24,107,258
Nicolas Batum CHO $22,434,783 $24,000,000 $25,565,217 $27,130,434
Danilo Gallinari LAC $20,559,599 $21,587,579 $22,615,559
Joakim Noah NYK $17,765,000 $18,530,000 $19,295,000
Luol Deng LAL $17,190,000 $18,000,000 $18,810,000
Ian Mahinmi WAS $16,661,641 $15,944,154 $15,450,051
Reggie Jackson DET $16,000,000 $17,043,478 $18,086,956
Timofey Mozgov BRK $15,280,000 $16,000,000 $16,720,000
Andre Iguodala GSW $14,814,815 $16,000,000 $17,185,185
Gorgui Dieng MIN $14,112,360 $15,170,787 $16,229,213 $17,287,640
Brandon Knight PHO $13,618,750 $14,631,250 $15,643,750

Now, lets see what teams are paying up for a wing player these day. Mind you, some of these guys cant do everything Burks can do (score, pass, get to the rim, draw fouls, creates his own shot, handle the ball, initiate offense, play in transition, rebound) - Ive left out defense for the haters, although he isn't worse than many on this list.

Allen Crabbe BRK $19,332,500 $18,500,000 $18,500,000
Evan Turner POR $17,131,148 $17,868,852 $18,606,557
Evan Fournier ORL $17,000,000 $17,000,000 $17,000,000
Kent Bazemore ATL $16,910,113 $18,089,887 $19,269,662
J.R. Smith CLE $13,760,000 $14,720,000 $15,680,000
Solomon Hill NOP $12,236,535 $12,752,928 $13,258,781
Austin Rivers LAC $11,825,000 $12,650,000
Courtney Lee NYK $11,747,890 $12,253,780 $12,759,670
Jordan Clarkson LAL $11,562,500 $12,500,000 $13,437,500
Alec Burks UTA $10,845,506 $11,536,515
Terrence Ross ORL $10,500,000 $10,500,000
Iman Shumpert CLE $10,337,079 $11,011,234
Tony Snell MIL $9,821,429 $10,607,143 $11,392,857 $12,178,571

Would the Clippers need to add an asset to move Rivers?

For a team to gain someone with the versatility that Burks can provide at the very worst it is a net neutral situation. Also, the FA market this year is pretty average and his money will be off the books by the time the big 2019 FA market opens.

Maybe Im a "homer" but I cant see why Burks isn't worth a mid-late 2nd round pick straight up. Sure, he doesn't work in Quin's "system" for whatever reason but the dude can ball.

I don’t think you have to add an asset, but it’s clear that he’s not in the team’s plans for the future. Best for both sides to find a suitable deal and start moving forward.

I think the odds are low that we move both Hood and Burks. He may be back in the regular rotation after the trade deadline depending upon what goes down.
