What's new

Dwight Howard almost a Net?

So the Hornets get Kevin Martin (2011 & 2012), Luis Scola(2011,2012,2013,2014) and Odom(2011 & TO 2012)Goran Dragic (2011) and a 2012 first-round pick.

3 decent starters & top 8 rotation guy & a 1st rounder.

OR

Chris Paul for 2011

That trade would have pretty much gutted the Lakers. Especially the front line. They would have had Paul, Bryant, Meta, Bynum & ?(PF) starting. With Fisher, Walton, Blake, Barnes
That is hardly scary.

Add to that, that Bynum is very injury prone and would be one injury away to him from having the worst frontcourt in the NBA.

Well this trade is dead. Nets are screwed and Dwill is gone.

Still have til March to make trades so I would not say it is gone forever. If Howard makes it clear he is not re-signing they will have to trade him before the deadline.

Strangely I actually kinda feel happy for the Nets in a way..

They did rolled the dice and basically gave us: Favors, Harris and Kanter for essentially - nothing guaranteed, 1.5 year of DWill rental.

Also I wanna see:

1) What DWill can do if he has a legit talent playing alongside him.
2) Whether a pairing of legit all star PG and C is actually enough to win a Championship.
3) DWill's reaction when things start to not go his way (ala Utah 2.0).
Didn't Stockton and Malone almost answer #2?

The trade isn't dead, it's in remission. The latest had Brooke Lopez and Gerald Wallace going to Orlando in a multi team trade with Turkoglu's horrid contract coming off The Magic's books. I don't care how great Howard is - that's pretty good for a player who has flat out demanded to be traded in a contract year. A deal will be made. Just not today.

Lakers have nothing to give either. I want Howard to stay in the East. I don't know if Howard and DW are enough to win it all but it is a great start to something. Can you imagine Jazz vs Nets in the NBA championship series? I think the league did the right thing with nixing the Lakers deal simply because of the financial risk they were taking besides the fact that all the players were older vets. I don't think the Clipper's package was great but the Hornets did get some young talent, picks and financial relieve when Kaman 's deal comes off the books.

Martin, Dragic, and a first round pick are old?

I bet the Hornets wish they kept Collison now, also IMO Gordon is better then any player NOH would've gotten in the LA trade and plus the assets they got are all younger and mostly cheaper (Kaman is a bit expensive but not overpaid) and they get a WAY better draft pick.

for some reason, I wouldnt want the nets to fail while Dwill is there, not that I'm a Dwill fan (i WAS-when he was a jazzman), but I dont want the whole world realizing that the Jazz screwed the nets bigtime for the Dwill trade.

Jazz didn't screw nets. Nets screwed the Nets.

I still think the Nets have a very decent chance to retain DWill. They can pay him a max deal for 5 years, they are going to be in Brooklyn, new arena, filthy rich owner etc

If Dwill is gonna reject New jersey, what the hell he wants then?
He wants to set a new franchise himself and play there?
I am pretty sure he will stay there

If deron doesn't get to pair with Dwight then its going to be a disaster for him and the nets. Only dirk will be left to pair with and he is getting old.

All the rewards but none of the blame.

For Duron, it will always be "someone elses'" fault.
