ESPN MOCK DRAFT V1 Lillard and Lamb

Top 6. But don't worry, if Curry and Bogut play half of the season's games together, the Jazz will very safely be getting that pick.

wait,so if they are not in worst 7 this year,we still can use that pick on 2013,and ofcourse that will be top 6 protected,am i understanding correct?

According to nbadraft.net its top 7 protected in 2012 and 2013 then top 6 protected in 2014.

If the Warriors get a 7th pick or below, the Jazz don't get it.

Also- if the Jazz make the playoffs, the TWolves get the Jazz's pick.

Things don't have to be this way. But teams trade things they have (or will have) to get other things they want. Putting protection on the pick gives a better idea the value of the pick and protects the team trading it in case something crazy happens.

It actually helps the Jazz. When they traded for Big Al they had to give up a few draft picks (If I'm not mistaken the draft pick they got for Ronnie Brewer was also included in the deal.) Teams are hesitant to give up a draft pick because they don't know what its value is. If it's a lottery pick it could be worth $2-4 million, if its a late first round pick its worth something like $1-2 million (not to mention it would stink if you were planning on being 13th that year and you won the lottery and got the first pick!)

It's refreshing to see a mock that at least has us taking guards - the junk mocks online have us taking PFs and centers.

Has ESPN mock draft ever forecasted the actual pick the Jazz got? Other than some generator that if you run it 3000 times it may pick it right 3% of the time?
