Extensions, baby!

Tim Hardaway jr. just got 70+ million with a PO and trade kicker. There will be one team screwing us if we don't get an extension done.
Yeah, its always a possibility. Its also possible for Hood that those teams target someone else first, get them, then Hood is left with no suitor. That will inevitably happen with some of this years RFAs.

Your numbers seem a bit too low. The might be the floor of what Hood would agree to.

I think 10-12 per for Exum is fair and potentially a great contract for the Jazz.

Not sure why Hood could demand more than 15-17 per year. I guess in an expanded role (SF vs catch and shoot guy) he might blow up. In Hood's case he has had an extra year to develop.

But those offers show commitment to them - and also recognition by both of them that they have yet to fulfill their potential.

The problem is that letting a soon-to-be RFA`s recent play dictate his value, is lazy work. You have to make a qualified guess as to how good this player will be down the road. By simply judging him by his prior performances, you give up the edge you have of seeing this player every day as part of the team.

Is this a subtle jab regarding FO and Hayward :)

With Exum I can see this happen, but barring a major injury, someone will make a huge offer to Hood. He's a wing with decent size who can shoot and will get a featured role on the Jazz this season.

Hood's range is huge.

Could have breakout year and be a monster (think that is in the cards)

Or he could have another year of injuries which in turn lead to the same inconsistent play yet again.

If Hood just stays the way he has been for his first three years, I don't see any reality where a team like the Nets do not offer him at least 4/80.

Hoods inyerview gor me excited today. He seemed to be very self aware. He talked about taking too many off balance shots and working on his handle. The kid seems like he is his own biggest critic. I would bet on him having a big year.

When is the extension deadline for both?

If we can get that massive trade exception in a sign and trade from Boston then I'd feel good giving them extensions in the same price range that Cy mentioned.
Hood 4/60
Exum 4/40

If we can't get that exception then I would be nervous jumping the gun though. Hood is a career 41% shooter who has only been healthy for one year. Exum is still an unknown. Without Hayward the teams future is a question mark. We have to find a way to put a couple star players around Rudy. As of right now our cap space over the next few years is one of our few ways to do it.
