So is the church going to rename the Book of Mormon since they are not allowed to call themselves Mormons. Is that why people outside of the church and in the church just called members mormons?
Not sure exactly what your question is. The Church officials have been using the subtitle "Another Testament of Jesus Christ" for quite a while. Doesn't work to call us "Another Kind of Christian" or "Real Christians" I guess.
So here's the problem. The Old Testament is not an ideological tract. It is simply a compilation of books written across time by pious defenders of "The Covenant of Abraham". You were an Israel by birth whatever you thought of it. Some people joined the Israelite community, but it was no big deal. Other people had no obligation to join.
But the Greek philosophers destroyed that pastoral simplistic cultural notion. There had to be some fundamental claim of "Truth", a compelling claim that could be argued and maintained. And with "Truth" came the necessity of dealing with whoever cared to believe that "Truth".
By the time of Jesus, the little pastoral tradition was in doubt. There had to be political deals with Rome to maintain public order, and with all that, there were of course, serious wealth trappings that went with being the designated controllers of the community.
But Paul really did in the teachings of Jesus as well as the Israelite traditions with his teachings, which are unique in all the scriptural writings, for being pure rational ideology.... one of the oldest successful ideologies.... but nevertheless, a system of beliefs that could be deemed worthy and useful as a State Religion, and an obligation of belief imposed upon the populace. At first, the Romans challenged it as a fundamental threat to their polytheistic smorgasboard, but eventually they bought it hook line and sinker.
The effort to reclaim the human conscience and a human's right of belief cost hundreds of thousands of lives across centuries.
Today is the dawn of a "new" state religion, deemed rational and scientific, which is an even more diabolical imposition of ideology on the human race.
