After sleeping a night over the extension I don't see it too critical any longer. Malone is a Utah Jazz employee and if he says he can get Favors up to speed to perform good enough offensively to make his contract seem good value overall then I should trust him and complain later if it doesn't pan out and somehow the Jazz find themselves cap strangled. But for now I'm okay with it and will see how it pans out.
A hoopsworld writer(Nate Duncan) who is very analytical and I share his opinion on lots of basketball things, seems very excited about the extension from a Jazz standpoint.
These are his tweets about it:

That Jazz/Favors extension is fair. I think if anything a good deal for the Jazz. Favors may already be worth $12 mm for his D.

I would rather have Favors than Cousins, and the Jazz got him for a lot cheaper.
Favors, who said he was bothered by trade rumors during his rookie season in New Jersey, has made it clear he enjoys Salt Lake City and called the deal "a dream come true" and a "big relief."
"The main thing I like about Salt Lake City, man, it’s peaceful," he said. "It’s not loud. There’s not a lot of stuff going on. It’s peaceful. You go home and get a peace of mind. That’s the main thing I like. That’s why I bought a house out here, because I hope to make this my home. I hope to retire here."
Hayward is already better then those players mentioned. Don't lump him in with them.
@ESPNSteinLine: Jazz won't go any farther publicly than acknowledging talks ongoing but I'm told deal -- if completed -- will be richer than Favors' deal
It's great to read stuff like this:

Thanks for the link. I noticed that more than half of those highlights he was fouled. Hopefully he gets more respect from the refs this year.
