Favors

I love Favors, but I think the writing is on the wall. It's just such a huge risk not only offering Favors a fat contract and hoping he remains healthy throughout the deal, but hoping that he doesn't leave in free agency. Locke said that Favors wants to test free agency since he's never had that experience before. And add in those tweets by him and his fiancee, though who knows if there was any meaning behind them. It really sucks that we haven't been healthy enough to see Favors/Gobert learn how to play with each other, since they could be a really unique frontcourt. I think in the limited minutes this year, we have seen how good the offense can be with a stretch 4 playing with Gobert.

The ideal player to pair with Gobert (stretch 4 who can guard the perimeter) is very rare, but I would love to trade for Richaun Holmes, especially before his value explodes. He's a freak athlete, can switch out on the perimeter, and is shooting 37% from 3 this year. I don't know if he's an "absolute stud," but I think the fit is great. I bet it would take the OKC pick to get him. Maybe we could trade Favors for Holmes and one of their late first rounders. Favors and Embiid, who can stretch the floor and protect the rim, would be a formidable pairing if they're healthy.

Same. Favors is a great player but between his injury history and the salary conundrum, add to that the question of what fits the best around Gobert... Th writing is indeed on the wall.

I've given up on Lyles which I know is wrong of me to do.
I've never seen someone's jump shot turn to **** so fast as Lyle's. Even in summer league this year his shot looked beautiful and confident and now I don't expect his shots to go in, I am surprised when's it's close now. That said his ball handle and a lot of his moves are still really good for a big man. If he can get his shot and ability to finish at the rim going he will be a great offensive player. I have hopes for him but I have tempered my expectations. Im not sure if he will be a starter in this league or not but I think if his shot becomes consistent (which might not happen) he will be a good sub maybe even 6th man material as a burst of offense. Jazz could have really used him this year. Im hoping his poor shot is a product of growing pains. It can be hard to keep a consistent shot when he is working on so m things including his body. Im hoping the game is simply moving to fast for him right now and he is over thinking everything. Hopefully he can work hard and get some momentum next year.

Lyles is a head case right now. You can see it in his body language. He needs to get away from this season and find a way to hit a reset button on his mentality/ confidence. He should take a 2 week vacation after the season and not even think about basketball. I think he turns it around.

I think Joe (J) is a higher priority than Hill. He can be that stretch 4, fill in behind Hayward, and will be had at a reasonable price. Can be counted on for a bucket when it's really needed. Hill is great, but not that great, and will kill our cap.

I think it's foolish to assume a guy will suddenly be better when he's continuously had at least some kind of nagging injury for years and is at a point now where the medical staff doesn't appear to know what to do.

If he's ever 100% and can be relied upon, that's simply gravy to me at this point.

The consistent injuries with Favors is not even the thing that gets to me. When he came back from injury this year, he looked like he put on a ton of weight and looked out of shape. It appears he didn't even take care of himself while he was out. Now we have a much more lengthy process to work him back into the offense and defense rotation. We went from having a guy that we couild count on, to a guy that we have to recondition before even introducing the new offense.

I love Favors, BUT ...

Sick of these posts. Totally root for him to make a major come back. Favors is a beast, just hurt. Nurtured well, he will hunt for you.

Having seen the team this last stretch without Favors, and the fact that we need a third stud to take this team anywhere, i really think getting Favors healthy is the key to this team progressing further over the next few years.

I don't think Favors is ever going to be really healthy. Seriously. I think he'll always be bothered by nagging injuries - even if he doesn't miss many games. The back and leg issues will also prevent him to develop his game further. He may become a little better jump shooter and, due to experience, a better passer but will also begin to lose quickness and explosion. In other words, Favors' will never be better than he was last season. If a third "stud" is needed, the front office needs to start thinking about an alternative plan.

He lost a ton of weight this year.

Tony Jones says Favors will definitely be back for the playoffs, and might see a few games before that, too.

I've never seen an athletic big like Favors fall off a cliff athletically at age 25, due to "nagging injuries". It's been a year since it started and I don't think he'll ever get back to where he was.

I've been saying all year, someone has got to put out an APB for Lyles shooting touch. His regression is one of the stranger things I think I have ever seen with a young player.
