So this year's free agency period will be more feast or famine than ever... a concept brought up by Nate Duncan. What he is referencing is some guys will get maxed or a lot of money because they are worth more than the MLE and will still get paid even though there are less suitors... Aaron Gordon is a good example imo... still likely gets maxed. While some who are definitely worth more than MLE will be stuck playing for less or getting MLE on a make good one year contract. We want to be in on the bargains and "famine" candidates imo.

So... who are some guys you think get under market value and are bargains this summer? Bonus points if they are good fits with the Jazz.

Some of the famine candidates:

-Favors
-KCP - Worth more than the MLE, but likely gets a one year deal around the MLE.
-Avery Bradley
-IT (may get like less than $5M... I want nothing to do with him)
-Rodney Hood - Probably worth the MLE but likely doesn't get anything near it now.
-Seth Curry (could get close to the min)
-Trevor Booker (could end up at vet min)
-Nerlens (no thanks)
- McDermott - could be a minimum guy
- Channing Frye - @ the min
- Chalmers - Another potential vet min guy with value.
- Ed Davis - think he would get at least 4-5M for porty, but they are stuck... especially if they keep Nurkic.
- Neto - I think he's a minimum guy unless he lucks out and get a Mack type offer.

Its all about value in FA for me... I left off a lot of guys that I think could get the MLE and are worth the MLE (Jerami Grant, Tyreke Evans types). We may want to add one piece quickly and then see what bargains are left when all the money dries up.

Anyway... who ya got?

Frye could be a good depth option depending on what other moves we make. He can be a solid 11th or 12th guy. He can still stretch the floor a little and he seems like a good locker room guy.

On a one year minimum deal I'm game. Would add some variance and we could use him instead of Udoh as a backup center some nights. Assuming Favs bails.

Nemanja Bjelica. I'm almost certain DL will try to steal him on the MLE or thereabout.

Didn’t list him because I think he’s worth the MLE or maybe less and will likely get it. I like him on a one or two year deal at MLE but more than that and I’d be worried. He’s had injury issues and may not age well. Just not sure it’s a big value but see the appeal.

I'm not really interested in any of the famine candidates you listed to be honest. My top targets are Bjelicia, Joe Harris, and Hezonja. If we can land one of these three with our MLE then I'll be happy. If we don't re-sign favs then we might even be able to sign two of them. I also think Trevor Ariza would be a really good fit on this team but I have no idea what it would cost or if he would even consider leaving Houston.

I totally agree that there will be a bunch of max contracts out of the gate...

Then a handful of $10 - $15 mil range contracts on a few valuables.

Then a lot of minimum contracts.

The league is loving the Celtics model which is 3 max players, Rookies and minimums, and as few $6 - $15 million dollar contracts as possible.

So when a player thinks he deserves in that $6 - $15 range and no one wants to give them the money they are going to have to settle for short contracts methinks.

10-15M will be non existent imo... those players will get the MLE because of lack of space. Teams that miss the max guys likely sell their space for picks.

I'm going to ignore people apparently seriously considering Channing Frye.

I want Bjelly. I don't like your candidates, but I wouldn't hate Seth Curry for a cheap deal.

Based on the likely "best player available" options at our current draft position, I think we will take a player who is a 1, 2 or 3 or a hybrid between the positions. In free agency, I want to concentrate on a guy who can play PF, provide offense, and can space the floor.

Bjelika and Hezonja are perfect. Adding either to a PF rotation of Crowder, Ingles, Jerekbo and Thabo gives us plenty of options at that position. I prefer Hezonja because he has a higher ceiling. A good coaching staff might be able to harness his talents. He really excelled at PF this season.

As far as the draft, I think and hope the Jazz take BPA but they don't need a 1 or 2 IMO baring trades or injuries anyway, wing man IMO is the Jazz' biggest need and with Favors' contract PF may actually be the biggest need if he doesn't come back .

Pre Donovan Mitchell, statistically Ingles most efficient/best numbers came at the backup 2, which as much as I love Ingles I still think ideally he's the back up 2/3 and the super sub getting starters minutes at those two spots. However I don't think the Jazz can realistically get a FA, trade for or draft a player that unseats Ingles as a starter

I don't get this idea that Ingles isn't good enough to be a starter that I keep reading around here. He was a top 10 small forward this season, even Dennis Lindsey and Tony Jones have both said the same thing. There are at least 20 other teams in the league that would love to have him as their starting small forward.

Ingles is the rare player who is capable of being a starter who is willing to come off the bench for the good of the team. So if we can get another quality 3 to start, then Ingles can bolster of rotation off the bench. And his career has probably peaked at age 30.

I definitely don't think his career has peaked. He's gotten better every year he's been here and last year was his best season yet. I honestly wouldn't be at all surprised if he continues improving over the next couple of years.

I never said he wasn't starter level good, just ideally for the team the best and most efficient way to use him would be the super sub. Now if the Jazz had a AD starting at PF or Mitchell started at PG and had a another high scoring SG then yes keep him starting at SF.

I wouldn't bench Ingles. He opens the floor for our best players to operate.

Instead, I would complement the Mitchell/Gobert/Ingles trio in the starting lineup. With a player like Bjelica at the 4.

Sure, it'd be great to add a quality 3. But he'd better shoot 3s better than Ingles does if you're intent on benching Joe.

Mario Hezonja is the player i would target day one for at or near the MLE. He is the right age to be coming into his prime with the rest of the Jazz roster. I think his position versatility is what makes him the best option.

Nemanja Bjelica is a great option to replace Jerebko on the roster.

I love the idea of a sign and trade to Jabari Parker

Julius Randle is another option for the MLE if the Lakers waive their rights to sign other players

Tyreke Evans is interesting for at or near the MLE if the Jazz want to build on what they did last year. I can't believe he is only 28

Noah Vonleh could be brought in as a 3rd PF project

Luc Richard Mbah a Moute is a nice option but he is 31

Joe Harris is still my second target and an offseason signings of Harris and Hezonja with a good draft pick would be a win win for me.

Patrick McCaw could be a nice player to steal from the Warriors

Then there is also a few players that might be had over in Europe. Players like Royce O'Neale was last year. First name that comes to my head is Chris Singleton.
