I simply wouldn't want this past year and the upcoming draft to yield McDermott at 8/9.
I'm not saying you give up #5 in the process. I don't know who you like at 5, but if you get one of Exum/Vonleh/Randle/Smart/Gordon and McDermott - a guy who feels an immediate and significant need, I'd be thrilled.

not sure what we have to get a pick at 8/9 that I'd be willing to give up for douggiemickeyd.
I'd start at 23 and Burke and go from there.

I would - if Exum is available at #5.
Then with the #8/#9 you should still be left with either Randle or Gordon or Vonleh...
