I mean, what message does that send your current team/players? We are targeting so and so.. and that so and so plays a position we already have filled. For what purpose? Whether it's sincere or a smokescreen, it just doesn't have real benefit. I think 9/10 are simply made up.

I will almost guarantee this is what happened with the Favors trade rumors this year: Reporters like DJ Jazzy Jody just keep hounding their sources over and over for some inside info that those sources obviously can't give out if they don't want to risk their jobs. Said sources finally get sick of being bothered and intentionally feed bad info that will make the reporter look like a dumbass.
 
People are so funny, you guys are hating on him and he hasn't even played a game with the Jazz. This is about what I expected at 12. I think I might have wanted Portis over Lyles but I think he has some talent and won't mind coming off the bench. The few times I saw him play I liked what he did.
