Following Potential 2026 Draftees

That said, last time I heard there was a generation draft, 9 deep, we ended up with Taylor Hendricks at 9.
It was 10 deep actually. Bilal was just a very late addition to the list. Cam Whitmore was supposed to go #4 or #5 and he fell, but others who were projected to top 10 went in top 9.

But I think the 5 real blue chip talents were supposed to be Wemby, Scoot, Miller, Whitmore and Amen.

Saw something on another message board about Darren Peterson missing practice recently and didn't tell anyone he was gonna miss practice or explain why he missed practice and then Self called him out about it which upset DP and so DP chose to sit himself out of the game vs #1 ranked Arizona last night (that kansas won without DP). Rumor is Kansas is saying he had the flu last night to cover for him but he actually didn't play because he is a pouty drama queen.
He has baggage for sure. I'm not sure if its health issues, diva mentality or "his camp"... but there is something red in the ledger there.

That being said I still pick him #1. He is the most explosive and dominant freshman who is also maybe the best off the dribble shooter and he plays hard on both ends. He also has a mean competitive spirit and every time he has played AJ he has thrived in those moments and wanted to attack him specifically. The 58 points he scored on AJ and Utah Prep when he was with Prolific Prep was crazy work.

So the top 6 players in this draft are
Peterson
AJ
Boozer
Wilson
Flemings
Wagler

And then there is a significant drop off... that seem right to everyone?
That's not how I would put it. I think there are a few guys right there with Fleming and Wagler.

Kind of. Im not as down on Mikel brown unless his back is worse than they said. If he really did tweak it, those suck, and can totally see why he’d have some up and down games. Also like acuff but the archetype is unloved rn. Apparently Ament is playing like a top 5 guy now. All have been super hyped at various times.

All American prospects too. Years later we might be talking about this draft class as the class that saved American basketball

Availability is the greatest skill, especially in today's game. I don't care you are the greatest prospect ever if you can't dress for your team night in and night out. Look at Ja and Zion.

This draft 1-4 is cinema.

The Darryn Peterson stuff is weird. The kid is an absolute menace, the best guard prospect in years. But the vibes are bizarre. Whether it's all "load management," bad luck, or him not loving ball it's at least a reddish-orange flag. Meanwhile, right behind him, AJ / Caleb / Cam Boozer are spectacular in their own right and will probably blow the doors off teams in the interview process (in a good way).

Still kinda / sorta feels like it's AJ / Darryn at 1-2 and Caleb / Cam at 3-4. But picking at 1 or 3 would be excruciating.
