Following Potential 2026 Draftees

Unless the Jazz are going to make a big trade around the draft this year (maybe Walker?), we're looking at having a top-8 pick or having no pick at all. So I'm just focusing on guys who could factor into the top-10 range. I don't have as much time to obsess as I used to. It does suck that we only have one pick this year.

What could really kick the Jazz into gear is a player with a dominant physical presence combined with on-ball skills. That guy would then become the main hub on offense, and there would be less of this cutting and screening around the perimeter that the Jazz are doing currently. (Call it Svi-ball.)

Guys like Brown and Ament are really good, and they'd help the team, but they wouldn't fundamentally transform how the Jazz play the way Boozer, Dybantsa, Wison or maybe Peat would. Lauri and Ace already give us nice shooting and movement on the wings. Now we need that hub that sucks in multiple defenders.

i've always liked tounde, but he's 3-15 shooting on the season. 1 of his last 10. if you're 6'5" and can't shoot the three, the league is tough. granted, it's early in the season, very small sample (even Steph has had 1-10 stretches), but it's something to watch that could cause him to slip out of the top 10, even the lottery if it's bad enough.
 
I wonder if OKC gets 1/2 if Peterson/AJ will refuse to play for the Thunder.

Yeah, you get to win a lot of rings, but you are basically a permanent 4th option your entire rookie contract.

His FT% is also 86% atm. Samples are just too small. But shooting is definitely key to watch.
 
Not seeing Yessufou as a lottery pick at all. Coen Carr might be a better long-term prospect despite being 1.5 years older.

Imma have to watch him at some point. He was so fun in the McD's game but not looking like thicc Ant rn.
 
Carr struggling to create his own shot today. 14 points on 13 shots and just looked terrible in trying to force one going one on two in transition while he had an open teammate standing at the three point line.

He has elite length and athleticism and he plays relatively hard and that will take him a long way. I'll be watching him this season to see if he can pull up off the bounce from long distance and how comfortable he is getting into the paint both pulling up and finishing at the rim.

just about finished a nasty dunk. missed and got bailed out by the ref.

Not at all. He was cooking in the 1st half towards the end then they shifted their entire defense to stop him. He's been getting hard doubled off any screen and his teammates havent gotten him the ball for any open perimeter shots.
 
Carr 21-9-3-2-1 and he didnt even attempt a 3 because of how much defensive pressure they were shifting towards him.
 
overall, carr had a good game and it's hard not to be impressed with him. didn't attempt a three. i really want him to be good - it's a fun archetype.
 
Carr definitely isnt someone who is a primary shot creator. He's more of an off-ball player, but he can handle and attack the rim, but he cant really deal with pressure all that well. He was making some nice passes out of the hard doubles that came once he got used to them.
 
it will be interesting to see if Bidunga can play himself into the back end of the lottery. he's added solid production this year to his elite length and athleticism.
