Following Potential 2026 Draftees

Yup developing 28 year old journeyman is more important than acquiring All-NBA level talent.
28 year old journeymen are extremely hard to find and even if you manage to find one, how are you possibly going to be able to acquire such a valuable asset?
Much easier to get a top pick in a loaded draft.

Nobody said he was useless. You can make plenty of fine points without resorting to scarecrow arguments.

“Useless” is not the same as “franchise altering asset/player.” I assume you know that.
A fine 8th man who is on a minimum deal... but is not some rare commodity and is not particularly useful for where we currently are.

I do think that this year is setting up nicely to help next year's draft class be better than expected. There are so many young guys being productive right now that not all of them will be first round locks, meaning some them will take the NIL money and stay another year.

Toure locked up Stirtz. OKC is going to draft him as an elite defensive prospect and people are still going to be wondering how OKC has so much success in the draft.

I'd be pretty surprised if he declared this year, but OKC does have the Houston pick so they could promise him in the late first and maybe that would convince him.
