Following Potential 2026 Draftees

Funny thing the reason I had Caleb Wilson #1 because I thought he could be a JJJ player. Granted he would take a couple years to get there and I am sure the Jazz want to compete during Lauri's prime.

I guess I should now move DP to #1 but his injuries and camp scare me.

Maybe I will have Wagler #1 next.

I like AJ but question his fit on thos team now but I guess we could go huge or have AJ first player off the bench.

Hate the fit with Boozer. I know he is doing crazy stuff just dont like him on the Jazz. That usually means that is who we will draft.

I really like Flemmings but not a big fan of a smaller back court but he is listed at 6'4" 190. I guess he could also be first player off the bench.

Honestly, they need a stud defensive stopper on the wing. Cody is good but I dont think he has the mentality to be a top perimeter defender.

If the Jazz get a top 3 draft pick then what is there starting 5? You have to start key, Lauri, JJJ, and one of either Boozer, AJ or Peterson so Ace off the bench? It’s almost too much talent to hone.
Dont threaten me with a good time.

If we get AJ or Peterson then I think Ace comes off the bench (depending on how he finishes this season)

If we get wagler or wilson I think they come off the bench.

If we get boozer then idk what the **** happens. Boozer, Lauri, Kessler, and JJJ cant play guard so one of those 4 comes off the bench. I think it would have to be boozer. If not boozer then I guess Kessler because you're not bringing Lauri or JJJ off the bench. Pretty sure if they pay what it's going to take to keep Kessler then they won't bring him off the bench though.
Boozer would be awesome against backups.

Any of the scenarios listed would be amazing. I feel really good about the jazz chances of being in the playoffs next season whether we keep our pick or not. I REALLY hope we keep our pick though

He might be in my closing lineup, but I’m bringing Ace off the bench next season regardless of the draft pick. Don’t think he benefits greatly from playing with the other 4 guys.

OTOH, maybe he just needs to get used to that role.

What's interesting about Wagler is that he literally had the same life story as DWill. A late boomer who wasn't even thinking about going pro just a couple of years ago(same as DWill)...until the growth spurt happened. Not recruited at all within his home state despite being born and raised in a very competitive region(same as DWill). Only getting a scholarship from Illinois because his HS coach knew somebody(same as DWill). Not projected to be the man on the team but then played his way into the takeover.
A late boomer, don't they call those "gen x"?

i don't necessarily disagree with this, but no chance he comes off the bench, unless - and this i think goes to fish's point above - whoever they draft is just better. it won't be due to fit/role with the starting lineup, despite the logic i think we both see in possibly making that move.

Sure, except DWill was a junior and the 3rd leading scorer on his team.

If Jazz get a top 3 pick and don't really want Peterson, AJ, or Boozer they can always trade down
They can get another draft pick and still get who they want
Ainge did that to get Tatum

I don’t think he has that kind of pull (or ego) to demand a starting position. And if he actually wants more opportunity, coming off the bench would be better for him. He’s not going to do much in that starting lineup besides defend.

I’m not ready to give up on Ace expanding his role….I doubt he and the Jazz are either. He’ll get more chances to do with by spending less minutes in the starting lineup. Minutes don’t have to be any different.

i'd say it's not about him demanding the starting role. it's hardy who won't bench him for that reason.
