What's new

For anyone wondering why Alec played 12 minutes last night...

Whoa this is more about the video player to me than the Alec crap.

Alec is the reason that you don't draft uber athletic guys who don't know how to play smart basketball. I haven't seen much of Wiggins or Embiid and this is probably stupid to say, but that would be my concern there.

He did make both of his shots that he was called for travelling on at least.
(A floater just outside the paint and a shot in the paint after a pump fake and then getting bumped into a travel)

I must be the only person in here that didn't see anything wrong with the shots Burks took. They weren't highly contested shots for the most part, the defense was giving him room, he just missed them. They didn't even look like bad misses.

What's he supposed to do? Not shoot when the defender sags off?

You're not the only one. He played his role and missed 3 of 4 poor looks.

I've learned through harsh experience when a college player is described as "having trouble with outside shot," as were Burks and Quincy Lewis, take it seriously and don't draft him if you want a shooter. I honestly don't believe that shooting can be an acquired skill. Can you think of many players who have gone from questionable to capable shooters? Burks simply can't shoot, and as Locke has pointed out ad infinitum, two guards in this league have to be better-than-average shooters. Time to give up on Burks and move on.

Well, first off, these aren't good shots, he is off-balance every time. Secondly, that's his problem - he is a decent shooter with his feet set, and has even worked on a quicker release, but he is terrible off the dribble. He just can't get his body balanced, and his shot arc tends to be flat. Which is basically why the defence is happy to give him these kind of looks.

When the best thing you can say about someone is that they miss makeable shots their might be cause for pause.

Agreed. He is rarely set or squared up, often drifting to one side or the other. In other words, his shot fundamentals stink. Sad, because if he had worked hard on them he might be pretty good. But as it looks now, he better start working on his Mandarin.

More likely Korean.

I've noticed Hayward has this problem too. He is often off balance and rushing shots. When Hayward takes a balanced shot it usually goes in.

Coaching and video watching should have fixed this early on. It is crazy, these are basic fundamentals of basketball.

Rewatched his shots last game and don't see this at all. He was very square on his spot ups and drives don't the paint. His handoff and screen roll shots have been much improved as well. He just needs to keep working and get better.

Yes. He did a better job getting square and balanced against the bulls.

Burks is the player I was really hoping to see break out this year. Been disappointed but I'm hoping he can turn it around. I really like his potential

lack of system also screws it up.

i eman wtf dont know what play is called. what play is run.
suddnely you have the ball in your hands

ZOMG that would be lame.

as jazz does not do player development.

they would also SUCK!
So the Jazz should just quit darfting players cause they all da suck for the evarzz.

However on a much more serious note I feel the same way about you. We as Jazzfanz must have failed you and never developed you into anything resembling a competent poster for that I apologize it was not our intention of turning you into the Morris Almond of posters. A player that had a glimmer of hope that he would bring shooting to the team but he was a one trick pony who's one trick he couldn't do despite his repeating and repeating and repeating and repeating that one trick over and over and over and over.

Obviously as I previously stated this is on us as a board as Jazzfanz we have failed you, so it's not you it's us maybe another board could cultivate your "talents" and needs better.
