Probably hayward
I like Hayward game too, don't get me wrong. But the contract he got has nothing to do with his current value. Just imagine if last year he had a breakout season...we would have paid $17-18mln to keep him?
Probably hayward
His contract would likely be the same. We would have matched a max deal. I doubt DL was going to offer a 5-year max with 7.5% raises. Well, I guess if Hayward had put up 25/10/5, then yes. But someone correct me if I'm wrong...even 1 year as an all-star would not have enabled him to get a 5/30% deal. Only an MVP last year would have qualified him at that point. Over 4 years, the most he could have been offered by the Jazz is around $66M. And over 5 years , about $85M.I like Hayward game too, don't get me wrong. Right, but your post was made TODAY at 3:06 pm. Parsons already signed the offer sheet with Dallas. Utah already matched the offer to Gordon.
And for the record, Hayward >>> Parsons. You don't judge a player's worth on one season, especially when there were several other factors contributing to his struggles. Hayward is much more versatile. He has the ability to take over games (like the OKC one). Yes, consistency is a concern. So is his mindset. I place a lot of trust in Quin. And I think Hayward THRIVES in a less rigid offense, especially when he's not being counted on to be the playmaker every time down the court.
I like players that know to make few things but they excel at doing it....rather than players that can make different things on the court in an average way! Hayward is not getting paid so much for his playmaking abilities. To justify the contract he got now he has to average 19-20 PPG with FG% higher than 45% and 3P% around 40%

I believe Parsons even has performed better during the playoffs.
Stop being a homer. Hayward being better than Parsons is slim at best. Hayward has had more than one bad season. His shooting has declined every year he has been in the league. Last year's stats were essentially equal. Stop using the Hayward played for the Jazz and Parsons played for the Rockets. So you can argue that Parsons has better players or Hayward had more opportunities. In the end they are very similar producing players with slightly different styles. Parsons had a few games were he has taken over too. I believe Parsons even has performed better during the playoffs.
It doesn't matter because both guys are already resigned. Houston was just smart enough not to pay too much for a role player while the Jazz..well you know the story.
But I'll take Hayward's versatility over Parsons and discount for the fact Hayward labored under the Ty(rant) for 3 years
Me a homer? I was probably the loudest voice in saying DON'T match the offer. And I still stand by that opinion. I don't think either of them are good value for the money. But I'll take Hayward's versatility over Parsons and discount for the fact Hayward labored under the Ty(rant) for 3 years.
The Rockets win the award for being the biggest dumbasses this year. They had Parsons under contract for less than $2 million. They should have just kept him at his tendered amount and then tried to get the best player that they could to match up with Howard, Harden, Parsons and Beverley. They swung for the fences and struck out. Then, because they misjudged the RFA market, they have to downgrade from Parsons to Ariza. They save $7 million per year, but it's a huge, unnecessary step downward that didn't have to be made.Rockets will not match $46mln offer sheet for Parsons!!

We could take him in place of matching Hayward at the same price!!
Mavericks to sign Richard Jefferson to a one-year deal too.
