GIANNIS

Can't outbid Houston/SA/OKC if they're interested, NY still has a bit of a war chest as well I believe- regardless they'd wan't some of our best pieces and then we'd really just be treading water, not able to do anything worthwhile with him anyway...

The window wouldn't be open for long and the time it would be open would coincide with the OKC dynasty unfortunately.

Ace/Walker would be a great starting package for the Bucks. Question is can you put a good enough team around Key/Lauri/Giannis.

This is the perfect example of the paralysis brought on by the "We can't be a treadmill team, we have to find a ticks-all-the-boxes superstar by drafting him, nothing else is good enough" train of thought.

I mean you combine a future Hall of Famer with a ridiculously efficient top 10 scorer – both versatile seven footers – and add a young guard who's making the leap? That's exactly how contenders are built. You fill out the team with cheap but competent role players. We have some of those already.

I'm sure the Jazz won't be in the Giannis race anyway, but it's frustating to watch these types of opportunities slipping by. Sometimes you just have to go all in and stop hesitating.

Okc has potentially 4 picks in this draft. They could easily get Giannis with those picks plus a few more players and be the best team for the next 10 years (maybe ever?)

They won a chip without Giannis, are looking like a juggernaut as currently constructed, and cant fit his salary in without breaking their future core (would be forced at least after Chet/Jalen extensions come on the table).

I dont think Presti is in the race.

If I’m the Jazz, I might just try to plan for having max cap space in 2027. If that’s even possible at this point.

Sounds like Giannis wants to go to the Knicks who just do not have the pieces to make a good trade. If there’s a chance that he doesn’t extend with anyone but the Knicks, be in position to just get him (including and importantly, be competitive next season which I think everyone already agrees on).

That's another reason the '23 and '24 drafts really hurt them. Imagine if they landed a few spots higher in '23 and drafted either Amen/Ausur or Matas/Ware in '24. They would actually be in position to potentially make that kind of trade.

We’d have to give up Ace and we tanked a whole year to get him then also say bye bye to this years pick because we’d be too good. Then we’d probably throw in walker. That’s WAY too much for a rental who won’t be happy here.
I’m confident he’ll be happy here if we’re winning.

If it’s Ace and youth/picks for Giannis (keeping Lauri, Walker, and Key), I think you just go for it.

However, I just don’t think there’s really a deal zone for the Jazz, so rest easy.

I don’t know I mean Kawhi won a ring in Toronto then immediately jumped ship. Jokes on the clippers haha worst signing maybe ever.

Ace and Walker both would have to be traded for it to start to interest the Bucks
