Is there a good reason to not make left hand turn tunnels instead?

Funny.. One of our top players in Alan Layton.
Owner of Layton Construction as seen in this video.
We are all evil, apparently.

Left hand tunnels wouldn't solve the huge traffic build up on Hill Field and Main going west. This filters traffic better, or so I've read.

These thru turn intersections are annoying if you're trying to go the prohibited direction but they do improve traffic a lot.

I live near Bangerter and the continuous flow intersections have made a huge difference for the better. I can say that it has cost a few lives, so I guess there's the question of how many lives is our convenience worth?

That all depends on whose lives we're talking about. If it's someone I know and love, the answer is zero. Some ******* off the street? A whole bunch.

This.
I hated those intersections at first but they work really well for the traffic on bangerter. I used to never use it and now it's pretty nice.

I still hate roundabouts and I really hate 4 way stop signs..... Just put the stop signs on the two ways that are not used as much and let the traffic flow in the direction most used

I've seen a few really bad wrecks at the pre-intersection left turns. Those ones look like they were probably deadly. Then I've seen a few fender benders where people turned right into the left turn part. Mostly it is people who are unfamiliar with the roads and who aren't paying attention.

And maybe the same accidents would have could have happened as people turned left at the intersection. Not sure. I do know that now that I'm used to it I like it.

A lot of people hate these innovative intersections but I figure at least they are trying, and for the most part it is working as far as making traffic flow better. Only downside is that people need to put their phones down in order to figure it all out.

You know there are people who studies these things and run models to see if these things actually work, so chances are if they are implementing them, they work. The only problem is people getting use to them and not being confused, but given that everyone isn't retarded, it's probably better.

I actually like the continuous intersections.

I think most people are retarded. Srsly the one in draper is a nightmare precisely because most people are retarded. I understand that people study these things but I think they don't accurately consider the level of retardedness out there.

The thru turn requires too much thought.

Yeah, but if you assume people will gradually learn and become more comfortable, then it's worth it, right?

IDK, it's a good experiment to see how many wrecks happen from it compared to wrecks before it.

No You stubbornly hate it and complain about it. You're being way too reasonable:)

Actually, it sounds like he's excited to gamble with peoples' lives.

Left hand turns have always been a big source of accidents. The pre left hand turn designs saves live and time. So do the Thru U turns.

I like them both, but I dont like the Thru U turns as much because that's what I do a lot of times to save time. Where you need to turn left, but the line is so long, so you go through the intersection, make a a U turn, then turn right the direction you want to go. So it feels like they are taking away what I already liked to do because if everyone has to do it, then it's no longer a time saver.

But again, left hand turns have been hurting and killing a lot of people. Trying to find a way around it is a good idea. I think gameface is over exaggerating the problems pre left hand turns cause. It's fixing more than its causing.

I have never seen one of these uturn things before but where I live there is some STUPID **** called flex lanes. Talk about killing people nobody knows what lane there supposed to be in. I've only lived here for a few months and I've already seen like six accidents because people didnt know what they were doing.
