Gordon Hayward and the 2015 Draft

Kevin Looney is a very skilled player with the body of a Durant. He will go top 10. Cliff Alexander is only 6ft8 but boy Is he strong

If your talking about the lottery selections or near by, the strengths of the 2015 draft appear to be 2 positions of need for the Jazz;

Defensive minded SF's and 7 footers.

Stanley Johnson will go top 5 barring injury, hes monstrously strong for a Freshman, can shoot and drive too.
Justice Winslow and Rondae Hollis Jefferson both should be in the range of lottery picks, both have shooting issues but are freak athletes and noted rebounders and defenders.
Mario Hezonja will go top 10 for sure, he has plenty of defensive capability though hes a bit of a gambler at this point, Its rumored hes grown to 6'8".
Kelly Oubre is also a wildcard hes a 6'7 lefty with a 7'2 Wingspan, he made a massive rise up the rankings last year all the way to being projected 12th in DX's mock.

The 7'ers are Karl Towns, Okafor's 6'11 but hes 270 so im listing him here, Kristaps Porzingis, Willie Cauley Stein, and possibly Myles Turner and Illimane Diop, (possibly Nikola Milutinov)

After the teens though, from what it looks like to me, there's a steep decline in talent. (though i do still have some players i like in that range, theyre few and far between)

The projected 2nd rounders are a joke compared to this year, most of them are players who dropped out of previous drafts. Mamadou Jaiteh for example is projected as the 29th pick in DX's mock, he wasn't even a top 40 player (and dropped out of) the 2013 draft.

Kevon Looney.

Im very high on him and UCLA's recruiting class, but i have positional questions, its been said more and more of late that hes a PF.

Hayward cares about money a lot so even though he says it's an awful place to play, he'll go there if they pay him. So to answer your question, Hayward does.

And I'm not sure why he had the right to be unhappy last year. Jazz gave him a green light to be the guy and he was worse. He sulked and he sucked and somehow that was proof enough to other teams that he deserves a max...

I think we all had a right to be unhappy last year. He had a green light in Corbin's dysfunctional world. It was awful to watch. I'm sure it was awful to be a part of.

Dirk Nowitzki signs 3 year 30 million deal with Mavericks. Hey Gordon, when a "star" like Dirk takes less ,so his team can be better, why can't you?????????????????????

Dirks got money falling out his butt, and he's at the tail end of his career. Not the greatest comp, but I hear ya braugh.

Part I: +5 wins for lineup B. However Marvin is an old band aid that cannot grow with the team.

Part II: The draft looks below average to me. It is reasonably strong in the SF department though: Stanley Johnson, Justin Winslow, Kelly Oubre, Hollis Jefferson, and Mario Hezonja are all RSCI rated 15 and above. The Jazz will be in position to pick at least one of these guys unless they make the playoffs.

I guess this reinforces my opinion we should not match a max to Hayward. Between Hood or one of the above we can address the SF need.

I know they did. But DL should have been able to look ahead just as easy as Hayward's agent did. I have a feeling they could have paid him close to what he wanted and struck a deal and saved $ compared to what he is going to get offered now.

Not to mention if he was under contract we could have used him for potential trades during the draft.

This is just a feeling. At the end of the day, none of us have any idea what either figure was/will be.

I'm not educated on the RSCI rating you mentioned. What were Parker and Wiggins ratings in such this year?

Well RSCI is less worth than a dx mock at any time.
I usually look at dx. And then I'll look at some others and try to explain differences by going over player pages and looking at strengths/weaknesses.

#1 Okafor - Classic B2TB Center
#2 Alexander - Howard'esque physical specimen with a lot of uncertainty if his skills translate. As immature as a young Dwight.
#3 Mudiay - Crafty, explosive 6'5 PG, who can't shoot (Yet)
#4 Towns Jr. - Versatile "new-age" Center, who isn't overwhelmed by his body measures. Can step outside, play inside, put it on the deck. Not a great athlete though.
#5 Johnson - Very crafty and explosive SF, who lacks skill at this point. Has hustle in him at a young age.
#6 Hezonja - Immense talent. Will see significant playing time next season for Barcelona, which will rank him accordingly. Would be higher on talent and athleticism alone. Doesn't like defense and teammates so far
#7 Porzingis - Best next Dirk since Dirk. With hops. And defense. Probably will never reach his level though, as those lofty expectations are mostly silly to begin with.
#8 Winslow - Elite 3 and D prospect so far. Terrific athlete. Slightly undersized for SF, can defend everywhere though, so position is not a problem. handles and shot are work in progress.
#9 Caulie-Stein - He's slotted higher next year than this year. I'm puzzled as well. Don't like his one-dimensionality on the court.
#10 Trez Harrell - Same as WCS
#11 Chris Walker - The guy who had to repeat his classes. Has upside to move in the rankings as he joined Florida late and never cracked the rotation.
#12 Kelly Oubre - Terrific measurements for a SF. Great Athlete. Everything else is subpar. 1 handed lefty. Cal seems to like these guys.
#13 Tyus Jones - Lightning quick undersized PG, who's pass first, can dribble and shoot. Athleticism, size and defense not so much. Has potential to move depending on how Chris Paul'esque he looks(People like to forget that Paul is a good athlete and just draft for the next Paul)
#14 Hollis-Jefferson - Defensive minded wing who can't shoot yet.
#15 Garcia - 3 point specialist with potential to expand his game
#16 Myles Turner - Versatile big, who has lots of talent on both ends of the floor on perimeter and low block. I don't like him.

2 part question:

1. What's the difference in wins between the following two lineups next season?

Lineup A
4/5: Favors/Kanter/Evans/Gobert
3: Marvin/Hood
1/2: Burke/Burks/Exum

Lineup B
4/5: Favors/Kanter/Evans/Gobert
3: Hayward/Hood
1/2: Burke/Burks/Exum

2. How good is the 2015 draft? Given your answer to part 1, how much better would the Jazz's pick be next season? If Hayward gets $14mm+, is he worth more than the cap space and the better pick next season?

well, looks like this question becomes pretty obvious to answer in hindsight.
