What's new

Gordon Hayward -> the next Pete Maravich?

Now that we have the second coming of Larry Bird (Hayward) and Kevin Durant (Evans) I don't see how anyone can beat us!

I predict 82-0.

You forgot Magic.
If Big Al were to get hurt in the finals, I have no doubt Flash would go in as the starting 5 and absolutely dominate the Heat. Gordon is gonna completely shut down that phony Lebron. Bell will negate Wade and Jefferson is going to school Bosh. Jazz will be the 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS. SHOCK LAKE CITY...you heard it here first!!!

You're right.

I'm also confident that he'll work hard on the weights to become a mix of Karl Malone and Shaq.

Jazz are going to dominate next year. I'll be surprised if another team even scores on them.

Seriously, guys why are we even bringing this up? If Gordan plays much this year, realistically I see him being a Mike Miller/Wallyworld type player.

It's sad how we're constantly comparing current players to legends. Boozer to Malone... Deron to Stockton... Korver/Gordan (who hasn't even played 1 single jazz game) to Hornacek or Pistol.

Let Al be Al. Millsap be Millsap. Deron be Deron. And Gordan be Gordan.

The Stockton - Williams comparison is legitimate to some extent. Williams is becoming the most dominant PG of this generation, while Stockton was one of the top 5 of all time. Comparing the untested soon-to-be-rookies to some of the best to ever play the game... Absurd.

I heard Hayward talking to someone in line at the store today and he said he could easily take all the the jazz on in a scrimmage game by himself.

I just sent your post to the Guinness Book of World Records. They have confirmed that you set a record for times misspelling the name "Gordan" in a single internet forum post.

LOL; the only "Gordan" I know of is Gordan Giricek.
In terms of his attitude towards basketball, basketball IQ, and skillset, his game is probably closer to Larry Bird's game WHEN HE FIRST CAME IN THE NBA. Hayward plays a smart, team-oriented game, will hit the boards, can shoot although I don't think he has Bird's range, can penetrate and draw fouls. Just like Bird, he pays attention to all the little things in basketball. Bird was not a great one-on-one defender, but kept his head in the game and helped when on defense, which I think is exactly how Hayward will approach playing defense.
I don't see him as being like Maravich...

IAWTP. Fortunately, Hayward has Bird beat in the "looks" department, so count on Flash merchandise to be popular with the ladies.

May be? May be not? What am I missing?

...let's start with perhaps.....a brain? Look, NO ONE can be the next Pete Maravich, NO ONE! He was one of a kind! He was dedicated to the game of basketball and NO ONE in todays world of NBA basketball can ever duplicate such dedication...not to mention skill and brains!
