double it from what? that makes it sound like there was some sort of preliminary understanding as to what the jazz would want in return. you can't double a price if a price wasn't already set.
This. Unfortunately to me, this sounds like we were or could be considering selling it as doubling a "price" usually revolves around something of monetary value. If that's the case, that sucks. That said, I doubt this is the case. Perhaps they offered us a future unprotected 1st (sounds about right) and we declined and so now KOC is saying we want two 1sts. I'd have trouble passing that up quite frankly.

The payment would be the one pick we are supposed to get from them. Double the payment could mean two first round future picks, maybe unprotected next year then another protected pick in 2013?
that doesn't make sense though... we're already owed the pick, so the "price" to adjust the protection on that pick has to be something incremental to what is already owed to us -- cash, most likely, or perhaps a 2nd round pick.

Can we all agree that if Bogut and Curry are healthy(big "if" I know) that the Warriors could possibly be a playoff team? I think it's too big of a risk to put off another year. If we get it this year then we should take it.
Not saying it's even possible but would you trade them the 8th pick for Curry given his ankles and what we already have at the 2? Would they given the evolution of Thompson? Could this have been a possibility?
I doubt that. I highly doubt KOC would take cash or a 2nd rounder in order to gamble again for next year. Not nearly enough.
well i guess that depends on what the nature of the negotiations is ... are they treating it like a conversation to amend the protections of the pick laid out in the original deal? or are they treating it like, once the jazz own the pick what would the cost be to get the pick from them? i'm not entirely sure what the nature of that conversation is going to be like.
also, according to GS's beat writer, there can't be any kind of deal until may 30 anyway... that's after the coin tosses AND after the lottery. so obviously negotiating positions will change when we're not talking about a hypothetical pick, but we know exactly what happened.
It would also be interesting to see what would happen if they weaseled their way into the 7th spot. I am sure at that point they would not want to give up much of value in order to protect themselves if a team were to leap them.
I think you are reading too much into it. I don't think he wants double the payment because they went public, I would think that would be the price to trade it (at least I hope).
We are essentially trading the 8th pick in the draft, we better get better than a 2nd rounder or 2 (or 7 or 8 2nd rounders). Unless it was for 2 first rounders, or a proven player and an unprotected 1st rounder it would not make sense.
according to @gwsscribe, there can be no trade and/or discussions about altering the pick until after the lotto, too, so they wouldn't have to worry at that point about who they would be leapfrogged by.
oh i agree... you're not hearing what i'm saying. i'm saying that the warriors already owe us a pick. so if we let them keep this year's, then they OBVIOUSLY still owe us another one PLUS something else to make it worth it for us to delay the payoff. so i'm not saying we trade a top-8 pick for a second rounder or cash. i'm saying we delay getting that pick until next year, and we essentially get the pick PLUS an added bonus.
it's that added bonus that i'm saying could be something like cash or a late pick -- but we're for damn sure getting the original pick as well.
I think the odds that the 8th pick is better than Stephen Curry are worse than Curry's ankle getting back to full (or practically) full strength.
If they put up Curry, I make the trade.
