Hayward --> Bench

This should be Gordon's team, but it seems now, Coach Ty wants to kick him while he's down instead of helping to elevate him to reach his true potential. ..

Jazz are in trouble if it is Gordon's team. Do you really see leadership and superstar qualities in Hayward to have such faith?
Honestly I see more potential for that role in Burks then in Hayward.

Your post is depressing as hell. I love it, wait until your guy is at his lowest, and then demote him. Brilliant.

Hey Trout since we're both fans of AK and Hayward does this bring back any familiar feelings?
(Difference for me is I'm waiting to see if he actually is brought of the bench and if he is how many minutes he's going to get, that and obviously AK had a few years on the bench to learn before starting. As well as had proved enough to get offered a max contract by the time this happened).

Hayward's downfall is that he's TOO smart on the basketball court and he expects his teammates to be on his level...which sadly 90% of them are not.

He's great at penetrating and dishing the ball, but too many times his team mates are busy just staring at him in awe and never rotate or move to a spot where they could get themselves an easy look at the basket. Jefferson is the worst at this, watch next time Gordon starts a dribble drive, 99% of the time Jefferson will just be standing there - sometimes even getting in his way!

Jefferson just needs to gtfo! Seriously! This should be Gordon's team, but it seems now, Coach Ty wants to kick him while he's down instead of helping to elevate him to reach his true potential. Sadly, if this continues, we're going to lose him to some team that can really see his potential and we'll look like a bunch of jack wagons...

cool.

So it's the team's fault for Hayward's inabilty to post up Luke Ridnour, make shots, keep from turning the ball over, or play defense.

Cool story!

I wish I could be hayward! All the good stuff that happens? Is because of me. All the bad stuff that happens? Because of my "team."

Hayward DOES NOT need to be benched. Just the opposite. He needs to be told to take over the damn game. He needs to be told that this is his freaking team until someone takes it away from him. He needs to be told that if he feels like shooting the ball, shoot the damn ball. If he doesn't feel like shooting the ball, shoot the damn ball. He is our best player RIGHT NOW. Favors and Kanter and Burks may be better in the future, but right now, Hayward needs to take control.

Believe it or not, I had this same F'ing thought last night. This is Jerry/AK all over again, and it really pisses me off.

I don't care if we win another game, I want to see Burks instead of Hayward. I've never seen a player get so many minutes after continually failing. I think it's time to face facts, Hayward isn't going to make it in the NBA as a starting 3. I think if he was coming off the bench, he could be the focal point of the offense and he may produce more than as a starter.

Over the course of the season, I don't see a huge difference other than Howard is currently trending up while Hayward is in a slump.

I think a lineup shakeup is in order. This would send a message that starter's need to earn their minutes. Hayward is the least proven of the starters, and is currently going through a tough stretch. This same process should apply to Burks and Bell in my opinion. If Burks can prove more productive than Bell, he should start.

If somebody can't handle competing for a starting job, how do you expect them to perform in crunch time. They are professionals and they have been competing for a chance to play since at least Junior High.

I'm not sold on Corbin, but this move isn't one that would get me too riled up. Maybe Gordon needs a break from the pressure?

That was the hardest -16 I've had to give. I like you, Dave, but to criticize Him like that? Unacceptable.

Other than God is doing better in almost every category, isn't a pot head, is much more handsome, and is white. Other than that, it's pretty much a wash.

No chance Howard starts over him. I never envisioned Hayward's three point shot sucking this far into the season, but the assists he generates is invaluable to our point guard inept team.

Start Howard? You have got to be ****ing kidding me, Ty. This will honestly make me lose serious faith in our coaching staff. We need to ship Al, ship Harris, ship Howard, and tank one more time this season. Draft Quincy Miller and Damian Lillard. Keep Bell and Millsap. Make a playoff run next year

Lillard/Watson/Tinsley
Bell/Burks (6th man)
Hayward/Miller/sign a FA shooting specialist
Millsap or Favors
Favors or Kanter

Slowly, our line-up will become

Lillard
Burks
Hayward
Favors
Kanter
6th man: Millsap

Defensively sound team, offensively capable as well. Favors and Kanter will make one of the most formidable defensive 4/5 combos of the NBA, if their progress continues. Offensively, much has not been seen, however the tools are all there. Kanter seems to possess a good IQ for attaining an impressive offensive-repetoire, and Favors has unlimited athleticism. Our PG spot is a bit of a mystery. SHould we draft Rivers? Marshall? Lillard? Try and ship off our half of our team + picks for Rondo? Who knows. Id rather try and get a PG and an SF in this draft though, and grow our youth together. Quite frankly, I could see this team becoming more well-rounded than OKC, despite not having a superstar like Kevin Durant.

Not sure what we will get in return for Al Jefferson and Devin Harris, though. I know McHale loves Al, and Houston needs a center. Maybe get him for s late 1st router/combination of a few role players? Devin Harris and CJ: just get whatever is feasible. Even 2nd rounders, I don't care. We will need a backup center, which shouldn't be too difficult to get with all of the players that we have room to ship off of.

who is this lilly guy is he good?

He seems to be rising in the boards. Great shooter, decent facilitator, great on the P&R, and good athleticism. Knock on him is that he doesn't play against great competition. Hopefully WSU makes it to the tourney in March, so we can see how Damian does on the National stage. Decent prospect for the time being, though.

Clearly Coach Corbin's faith is being tested.

I'm reminded of a few versus from The Good Book:

Psalm 26: 2 Examine me, O Gordon, and prove me; test my heart and my mind.

Proverbs 17: 3 The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Gordon tries the hearts.

Psalm 18: 30 As for Gordon, His way is perfect! The word of the Hayward is tested and tried; He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him.

And my personal favorite:

James 1: 12 Blessed is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive the victor's crown of life which Gordon has promised to those who love Him.

Seems pretty straight forward to me: Bench God and feel the wrath.

Hayward eventually might be his best coming off the bench, but I don't think that this is the time or way it should be taking place. Josh Howard has been even more erratic than Hayward (and his shot-selection gets WORSE when it's not going in) but he's past 30 and on a one-year. If this move is motivated by anything other than trade value for Howard, then this is a pretty big mistake.

I wouldn't call his 3 apg invaluable.

He is shooting 25% on mostly open 3 pointers. Ronnie Brewer would struggle to be that low with the same looks.
