What's new

Hayward - has his own blog and logo ....

I think it's fine. Wonder if he writes it himself. If so, he did a better job of breaking stuff down than I figured he would. Guys have to build their brand. I'm not too worried about whether he's planning to stay in Utah or not. The Jazz control his rights and will likely match the offer that he gets, or work out an extension with him. It's just business. Roy Hibbert and Eric Gordon both got huge offers from clubs willing to invest in them. Indiana and New Orleans both waited the process out and matched the contracts. I'm expecting the same thing with Gordon Hayward. It's not personal. It's just business. Hayward bet on himself, and it cost him millions. I'm sure that he's frustrated with the Jazz and with his current situation. It doesn't really matter though. I don't see them letting him leave. He'll get a nice offer and they'll match it. The angst over his desire to test the market is just silly. I hope he doesn't pull the "Please don't match my contract crap that Eric Gordon pulled." That'll make some of the guys on here flip the hell out.

Yeah, cuz I'm sure Hayward is the one designing the website and updating it....
This. Damain Lillard made sure to participate in every event that he could during the All-Star festivities. Was it just because he loved the game so much? I'm sure he does, but he came right out and said that it was to help build his brand. These guys want exposure and endorsements. And guess what? It worked. I love his commercial with Barry Sanders and Karl Malone. I'm fine with it. These guys have business demands and needs that we'll never even comprehend.

Every company has at least one douchebag that massively overinflates his worth and value to the company, we've all seen it before...the NBA/Jazz is no exception.

Oh no, guys! Hayward analyzing the Heat Spurs game! He probably has a team he'd want to win the series! Someone get pointgod in here! This is treason!!

Maybe I'm a throwback, but **** these medicore-caliber professional athletes (sorry, Gordo, that's what you are) and all this personal branding bull**** these days. I know you have a finite shelflife to cash out as a pro athlete but it makes me nauseous.

As a free agent, is Hayward allowed to work out with the team prior to signing a contract? Not sure if there is a distinction given that his rights are still held by the Jazz. I know contracts can't be discussed until July 1st.

I believe after July 1st he could workout. However if it is discovered he was contacted by another team they would fined for tampering. Though I don't think he would workout for another team. If he gets hurt it would reduce his leverage.

On the overall threat I can see a sign'n'trade looming.

I didn't think white people could have their own site dedicated to themselves without being declared racist.

Huh.

I'm wondering if he can workout or even have contact with the Jazz FO and coaches before July 1st. Much has been made of Burke, Gobert, etc. coming to Utah to work or at least meet with Snyder. I'm thinking...and I may be completely wrong...that Hayward couldn't do so even if he wanted.
