Hayward & Jazz - not close to agreement (Hayward leaving 4/40 on the table)

Why all the max talk?

I don't think any of the fans are saying we should offer him the max, and I don't think that Hayward himself is asking for the max.

If we can't get an extension done I'd say let all the teams know that he's available and let the bidding begins. Clippers might be interested? How about the Celtics with Brad Stevens? Let's get something for him this season instead of over-paying for a 3rd best player in a contending team.

Exactly my thought process. I just wonder what a team like Boston would be willing to give up for him. If we don't get an offer we like, then hold on to him until free agency.

As a representative here at JazzFanz I would like to formally welcome you to our forum.

And yes I do agree with your post - this is the time to push for the extension and we need to strike quickly.

With a strong draft, it might not be a bad option. He forced way too many TO(again).

Hayward struggled tonight, hopefully this brings him down to earth if not lets see what RFA will bring him- I'd almost rather see the money saved for a big run at Kanter
Bigs always get seriously paid in nba, no way Haywards worth more than 10mil

Got to love how fast some are turning on Hayward.

I'm not turning on Hayward. I still love him as a player.

But if he's thinking about bankrupting this franchise by asking for more than $12m with what he brings to the table, then he's got another thing coming. Fair is fair. Does he really think he's better than Favors?

When it came out that he was hardballing us for more than what Favors made... man... wasn't I arguing with you literally earlier that night saying we should pay Hayward and be done with it? We don't like having the screwz put to us

I am not turning on him. I have always believed that 4/40 was more than fair. We need to do what is best for the organization rather than keeping a guy who might be a fan favorite at any cost. If he doesn't want to accept 4/40, we should explore trades.
