+1 Lindsay knows Bigs get seriously paid, even more elbow room to lock down Kanter.
Kanter will be a bust. Book it. He does not work hard enough. Favors sold out for cheap. He would have easily been a Max in the summer.

Of course I'm not saying to overpay him. That would be stupid.
I do think not having a deal is still a disaster. This thing's going to linger over everyone's heads. I mean the supposed leader of your group isn't really a long-term part of it. It'll be similar to the effect Milsap had on the team last year.

Per Locke, Jazz offered him #4 money.
They will not match. Too cheap. As locke said (who was way to involved in this), if they decide they would match any offer, he would have been signed tonite.
It's pretty obvious where the Jazz made the call on this. Teams know the Jazz are interested in keeping him and not for mere chump change either. The Jazz are also substantially under the cap this offseason, so there are no IMMEDIATE punitive ramifications for matching a big offer. So a team basically needs to be prepared to go all-in on grabbing Hayward, at which point, the Jazz can just shrug and move on.
With front offices becoming smarter and the new CBA doing it's job, I am currently not terribly concerned about the situation. Hayward will leave when a team offers a completely ridiculous offer or the Jazz get him for something close to fair value and that's how it should be.
The Jazz are going for it on 4th and short just past field goal range and just inside punting range.
