Number, I can assure you I didn't negrep you. I don't negrep anyone ever (except for trolls and perhaps Slopper, may he RIP). If I disagree with a point I will confront it in a thread, not in a cowardly unsigned stab at "reputation."

I personally thin AK does care about winning. I was interested watching him off the ball last night. When other players hit tough shots he would do a little fist pump. (CJ's threes were making him glad, for instance.) He looked focused and ready, and when he lost focus and lost his man he would try to recover better on the next play.

I don't think AK is exactly a Larry Hughes or anything (the definition of a player that plays for bucks and doesn't care beyond that), he just doesn't care enough about winning and losing for my tastes. Everyone likes winning, it's just a matter of how much and how much that drives how someone plays. When I see Deron, Millsap, Jefferson, or just about anybody on this team after a loss, they look somewhere between embarrassed, boiling under the surface, or dejected. The only thing I've seen AK flustered by is being benched or not getting touches.

I mentioned this in another thread, but he's having his second-worst season in both PER and win-shares (above the abominable '06-'07 season). AK is in a contract year, there are less players ahead of him on the offensive priority chart, he's coming off of an injury-shortened but otherwise fantastic season, Boozer's gone, AK should've been primed for something special and he's been anything but. I thought he started the season well but he's gradually been having more and more games where he's a ghost.

This is entirely a subjective judgment on your own part. It could just as easily be argued that AK gets "flustered" when he feels like he is contributing negatively to the team's success. We'd have to look at it case by case, then still resign ourselves to mind-reading.

I have no problem with criticism of AK when I think the criticism is warranted. AK hasn't had a very good season. It's been mediocre and certainly not worth the amount he's being paid. At the same time, we'll have to wait and see what the rest of the season holds. My memory may be incorrect, but didn't AK start out last season a bit rough? At any rate, AK's being maligned more than is warranted. Often, people's criticism is founded on money, and the critics own expectations of what AK should or shouldn't be doing.

I think the whole "AK doesnt care about winning" thing is a little bit blown out of proportion. The thing that is hurting AK most is that he is really starting to lose his athletic ability that made him so special to begin with. He is starting to get slow and that is really hurting his D.

Let's face it, this thread is a flying joke.

I love Hayward, and hope he progresses greatly, but AK is an integral part of this team, period.

Suck it.

This whole situation is eerily similar to the Koufos debacle in his rookie year. Remember he had a string of decent games that showed some promise, and he obviously was working hard and ready to play when he hit the court, then mysteriously he disappeared. Sloan babbled some garbage about "someone" not putting forth the effort in practice, and we read into that Koufos was the one. When Koufos did get another chance he was hesitant and lacked confidence.

Sure hope that Hayward is more mentally strong than Koufos and even CJ who were both put through the Sloan ringer, and imho not better off for it. We will see if/when he gets another chance to play some decent minutes.

remember that baseline-cut play they ran all the time for Brewer that resulted in numerous uncontested dunks? how about running that play for Gordon? does Jerry read this board?

Hayward doesnt have near the flat footed jumping ability that Brewer had, or the finishing ability. I think its less of a play, more of a read by the wing. Most of the wings just sit on the wing (because they can shoot), Brewer couldnt so he always just cut to the basket.

i only saw a few minutes of last night's game (fortunately, for me). i did see Andrei:

* goof up a fast break resulting in a Deron TO
* trip Price from behind on another fast break
* miss a layup into the bottom of the backboard (still wondering how that is possible for a 6-9 player)
* miss two long jump shots that were short enough to deflect downward from the rim (still better than an airball?)

his stats ended up pretty good in the end, however. props to Andrei!

You seriously want to insult his game last night. He was the only player who played worth a damn!

I haven't read this thread, but I would like to point out that Honz was right, and Hayward is the bomb.com.

Gordy > AK, CJ, Raja
