Hayward Rookie Comparisons

He is fine. He is a rookie and hasnt played hardly any at all. Nothing really to expect from him at this point. Plus we dont need him, so why stress on it? Let him figure out he is in the NBA. I think he will be fine when we need him.

I've been pretty underwhelmed. I thought he would get off to a better start, but this is pretty much worst case scenario so far. Ironically, the Knicks second round pick might better than their/our first round pick.

Yup, he's already 17 games into his NBA career. It's definitely time to write him off.
Waive Hayward and pick up Sean Williams.

Before we pronounce him a bust prematurely, as many on this board are wont to do (Deron -- too fat, too slow, wasted pick, Paul better, yadda yadda), we should remember one game that gave us a glimpse of his potential: Oct. 17 against the Lakers at the Staples Center. Hayward's line: 8-10, 26 points, good defense and rebounding. It may have been an aberration, but at least for one night he looked great.

Similarly, in the NFL, Troy Williamson has recorded about 1,500 yards in just 16 games...albeit pre-season games but that doesn't mean much. The fact is he's showed he can play.

In preseason? And his one good game in preseason?

Ironic indeed.

I miss it when the NY pick was still a pick.

A. Showing consistant hustle will get him more PT that how many shots he can jack up in limited minutes.

We used to take tards to college games for their consistent hustle, effort, team spirit, etc. But we didn't ask coach to put 'em in. Well, maybe we did when Ronnie Price went off for 30-something and blew it wide open.

B. way more mature mentally.

So are plenty boy geniuses.

I still like the pick, he hasn't showed much because he hasn't had the opportunity to. Gordo will be just fine

I hate all Jazz draft picks, free agent signings and trades. That way i'm right and gloat here on Jazzfanz or i can just say "i'm so glad i was wrong." Heads i win tails you lose.

Dwill is gonna suck against that old wiley veteran jason kidd. I hope i'm wrong though.

Who needs him to be a complete player now? The Jazz are clicking on all cylinders. If he needs a few years to develop this is the time to do it.
Remember, we drafted another player who was young and not NBA-ready, gave him 5 years to develop and now he's, well, he's, ummm, coming in as our 6th man and shooting with the best of them (he just ain;t making many). Maybe Hayward will become half the player Miles is.

i knew dwill was better all along. Unlike mormons i gamble so i watch alot of ball. Watch dwill from hs and he started off slow in college plus in hs he wasnt the star od his team. he destroyed cp3 in college man handled him plus locked down both salim stoudmire and francisco garcia ...Hayward just not good..Pre season stats are whack so please dont use that argument

when you pick 9 you have to nail it and get a starter or you have whiffed. Maybe not starter from the start but startermaterial down the road. Hayward to slow to guard 2s and to weak to guard 3s. Thats a tweener. Tweeners are bench players except a few like millsap. For the record i never been sold on him but to his credit he cashed out when his stock was the highest. Who here honestly think he would of been a lottery pick had he gone back for one more year of school? Not me cuz by then youron the radar so the scouts are lookin at all your neegatives not positives. Scouting101 people
