Hayward spot up threat?

I love your optimism, but gimme a break... Go look at every player that averaged 20+ ppg over the years in the league. All of them either have an elite level post game, or can create their own shot off the dribble. Hayward can't do either at a high level. To average in the 24 ppg neighborhood, you're venturing into the Carmelo, Durant, Lebron, Wade, Harden territory. Hayward is not even close to those types of players in terms of offensive abilities. It's not easy scoring 20+ ppg in the NBA, hell even with an offense centered a around him, Big Al couldn't even average 20+ for the Jazz.

Jazz O will be very different this year. A much higher deman will be placed on offense from Hayward. With Big Al gone the Jazz will look for him to step up. They should place a mush higher emphasis on pick, cuts and curls. They should be hitting Hayward for many more shots. That means more shots and if he is shooting a higher %...he is only a couple shots off that mark.

Will it happen? I do not know but it could, it is entirely possible. One of those things does not belong...

Hayward could very realistically get worse this year. He will be the Jazz's #1 option, and he will be the guy every single team looks to shut down. There is nobody else who can score on this team consistently.

Favors has no post game. Kanter is his best when he is working off others. Burke can create his own shot, but he needs to learn how to get the shot off once he has space or is in the lane. That leaves Rush or Burks, and those two are huge question marks. I don't think teams will allow Hayward to take 15-18 shots a game because there isn't anyone to take the pressure off him, and I don't see Hayward forcing up shots ala Al or Mo.

As bad as last year's team was, Al, Millsap, Mo and Foye were all above average offensive players. Now, we only have Hayward who we know is an above average offensive player.

We are going to be terrible offensively. There will be a lot of games where we only score in the 50's...

I agree, that Hayward's numbers could actually go down this season for the following reasons:
.
1. As you mention, How does he handle the pressure of opposing defenses preparing for the Jazz with Hayward as the #1 option on offense. Sure, he's put up some nice numbers up as the 3rd best player on the team, but he's never been in the spot of being the #1 guy before.
.
2. Since he's expected to be the "leader" of the team, I see him trying to get everyone else involved (which isn't a bad thing) moreso than before.
.
3. People are reporting that Hayward has improved his shooting this summer. That's great, but he's always been a good shooter. If he hasn't added any new moves (i.e. floater, pull up jumper off the dribble, finishing better at the rim, post game, etc.) he pretty much be the same player we've seen the last 3 seasons.
.
4. People are saying the offense will be changing to better utilize Hayward's skills, but at the end of the day Ty Corbin is still the coach, since when has he ever shown that he can adjust an offense to get the most out of a player's talent? I'm not holding my breath.
